how many fellow combat veterans are here?

Hey it is/was a pleasure and an honor to serve... just those that truly deserve the thanks can only be thanked if you can talk to the dead.... I know I have lost many brothers in combat, and every time I have, its allowed me to make it back mostly in one piece. And it is through the brotherhood of service that we always made it through the down times because no other bond is stronger than the bonds formed in combat... it makes super glue look like paste.

82nd Abn Div during Urgent Fury/Just Cause/Golden Pheasant/Desert Shield/Desert Storm
1 AD/1ID for IFOR/KFOR/OIF (I say both because for some of these ops I was attached to 1 ID)

Plus a few other operations of little note to the general public...

I remember during the build up before the first elections running into my former unit from 1st brigade when i was rolling with the iraq survey group, i got IAd for OIF from that unit... My 1sg (who was also my former PSG) was ...... they pulled me. I got OPCONd to another company for a mission like a week later, but spent a lot of time working with 1/7 cav and 4th id as their AOR was my AOR. I also was on the pickup team to get the Ace of Spades when CJTF-7 picked him up

I went to the schoolhouse (Ft Knox) from '06-09. When I got back to the fleet, I couldn't catch a deployment until '11. Side effect of my job, promotions, and the fact there weren't any tanks in Afghan until late 2010.

No break in service here, unless you count the forced tour in USAREC. That's as close to legal slavery as it gets! :)

I was more than happy to avoid levy orders for USAREC and Drill SGT... was all to willing to deploy in lieu lol... they tried to get me to do either in lieu of medical but Ichose sanity (wwhat's left of it anyways) over that BS... I joined the military to jump out of aircraft and f$%& .... up... not fill out paperwork or deal with literally day one recruits. I would have had no issue black hatting at Banning, but by then had to get a knee replacement and a spinal fusion... so airborne duty was P4d for me. ..

My ex was a Navy Pilot.... still have a lot of friends in service, retired, or discharged. One of my best friends is a veteran SEAL that's dealing with some serious PTSD issues, he's seen a lot and holds a lot of it internally. Thank you to everyone that has served, and all the family and friends who support those serving or those that have served. I only wish the stigma on some of the mental distress caused by situations you're asked to face would be handled and provided for.
