How many tanks before you clean the coils?

I have a Kanger (Protank 3) and have a general question.
How often do you clean your coils? I generally go through one tank a day (2.0 mil). I try to clean it every 4-5 days and they seem to be ok for the most part. Im just curious as to the rest of the cloud crowd.

Ok... I have two and generally go through the other tank every other day so it is more like 3 mil but still....:vapor:

I vape protanks with my own builds in them. Once you know what your to be expecting from a build, you vape that build until it starts to loose performance. For me its about 3-4 days( 12-15 mls) before I can feel the coil start to decrease, my wife goes a lot longer up to and over a week before she hands me her mod and says it tastes burnt. It also depends on the juice your using, dark juices make a "cocoon" around the coil and its that cocoon that creates the burnt taste, so does super sweet and many menthols. It can get very expensive if your buying factory coils but if your rebuilding them its just pennies so I don't have to vape my coil until its dead, just rewick it and I'm on my way again.
I rewick with 30 gauge and hemp fiber but going to the big city at the end of the week and looking to buy some CelluCotton from Sallys. What made me laugh when I phoned to see if they had the cellucotton, she told me they have a salon size box with 1200 feet in it for 20 bucks. I think I'm going to get 2 boxes just incase...ROFL

Darker liquids (tobacco's) and juices with added sweetener will gunk up much quicker and will require dry burns more often in my opinion. I used the evods and ProTanks for a long time and loved them. They really are very easy to rebuild so I got to the point where I changed them when they got to tasting funny instead of dry burning. Cheap and easy to rebuild. Good luck to you and happy vaping.

I've vaped Protanks and Aspire clearos and the Nautilus for a long time. If the coils are good, I'll get a week or so out of one with a dry burn and cotton flavor wick replacement. Most of the time I toss them in a ziplock for batch recoil while I watch a movie one afternoon.

I'm hoping for quality in the new coils from Kanger and Aspire. As recently as a month ago, I ordered from a vendor who guarantees the product is brand name from the original manufacture. I left for the beach with four 5 packs of Kanger T3S coils (Protank/Evod) and one 5 pack of Aspire Nautilus heads. All of them died in 2 hours to half a day with double and triple resistance readings. I got a day out of one or two. When I recoil, I can vape for a week or over. I used an average of two coils a day in 7 days at the beach. That's almost 3 five packs!

So, I cut my losses and bought an EHPro Kayfun 3.1. I played with coils for the first week or two to see what worked best. About every 2 or 3 days I pop it apart during a refill and wash the parts, then dry burn the coil and slip in a new cotton wick. That can take way less than ten minutes, 5 if you are in a hurry. It holds 4.5ml juice (if you use the bottom fill hole) and is easy to refill.

Once all the bad heads are cleared from vendor stock I might go back and use my other tanks more often for a quick change in various juices. It's nice to have dedicated tanks for a quick juice switch.

So single coil Evod user here (same coils as the Protank 1/2).. For those of you that soak the coils every few days to clean em up, do you pull the wicks out and rewick em?? Im still on my first coil out of the box, been 5 days today and dont notice any lack of vapor or flavor but just curious when it comes time to clean it if I need to take the whole thing apart or is everyone just dropping the coil and wick assembly into water/alcohol as it is??

The first time I wasn't sure when I really should clean/change my coil in my Evod. I figured it was worth the sacrifice of one new coil and swapped out the old one with a new one. Vaped it for a couple hits just to get it going, then switched back to the old one. No flavor difference. So I dropped the sacrifice "new" coil in a small ziplock and tried it again a week later. Noticed a difference at that point and that little experiment gave me a baseline to tell the difference between a new coil and an older/gunked up coil!

So my Evod was feeling kinda weak and flavorless last night (go figure after I posted above) so I decided to replace the coil after 5 days of vaping.. Couldnt get the stem off so just dropped the whole thing in some hot water after rinsing it and scalding the crap out of my hand haha.. That was pretty trippy how the juice washed right out of the wick.. After it had soaked for awhile, I decided to see if I could pry the stem off and I gotta say.. You guys that rebuild your coils are nuts! That thing is TINY! They look so much bigger in the pics on the internet (just like I thought my Evod would be) I dont know if Ill be able to do that part when it comes to it! Nice to know Ive got the good coils though that you CAN take apart.. Ive heard Kangers newer ones you cant..
