I prefer my DSE901 but I have 3 batteries and have been trying most of the sample packs. Now that I've found a number of V4L flavors I like I just started to refill my cartos with the juice I bought. My DSE901 atomizers give a very clear sign when they die, they stop working. As in simply don't get warm at all. I refilled the French Pipe carto from the sampler with the French Pipe juice I got 4 times now I think. When I push the button on the manual battery I hear the sizzling so I know the element is getting hot but I get no vapor and noticeably less taste. Does that mean the carto is dead? Is that how they die, slowly and gradually vs. all at once like my 901 atomizers?

after about two weeks I dump them even if they still work.....they start to add their own "flavor" to the eliquid by that time and it isn't a pleasant addition.....I don't feel trying to flush them out and clean them is worth it for something I can replace for less than $2.....

I generally start them off full and add drops as I use it, perhaps as frequently as ten or more times a day......

I use most my cartos once than put them in a pile if a ban does happen to occur. Cartos can last anywhere from one refill to infinity. Since they're meant to be disposable, anything after that is the initial pre fill is a gift. :):p

I don't think you can re fill them to infinity.
I was just reading in the technical issue forum the "burning carts" item, so I decided to do the experience myself. I found out that the white material in the carts is burnt on a quit few used one.
Don't get me wrong, I am not stipulating that this is unhealthy, but for safety sake I would not recommend to use the carts more that couple time.

I refill them 5 or 6 times then i usually toss them into the "to clean " bag...i boil those and keep them in another bag for use later..usually on trying new flavors or keeping them until later...or for hard times.

The cleaned ones arent up to par with new ones for sure...but they will work for quite awhile....I have found that some of my juices kill a cartomizer faster than others.

Well, DUH. I was saying it to make a point. As in, you can fill them A LOT of times. And none of us will ever really ever know if they last until infinity, now would we?

I also would recommend not to use them a .... load of times, mainly because they are meant to be disposable.

Ahh, man, and she swoops in for the kill with the application of theoretical mathematics. Ouch!

 again!

I have been generally tossing mine after a bit more than 50 fills, according to my lab book that I keep track in.

Dang, Lynn. I'd surmised quite a while back that you're a bit obsessive, but it still surprised me that you actually log how many times you're refilled every cart. OCD, much? ;)

A nichrome wire/coil/whatever (which is what you've got in a cartomizer) will definitely wear out eventually. There is a finite number of times you'll be able to heat the little bugger up and cool it off before it fails. That number of times, however, is extremely high. Barring a defect, the wick and batting in a carto will most likely become unusable before the heating element craps out.

Kimmy, Infinity was not my point, my point was mainly not to not re use the carts more than 2-3 times. (this is my advise based on my personal experience).

Sorry if I have offended you in any way, this was not my intention.
After all we're all seeking for a "safer alternative" to smoking, trying to use as much as possible others experience.

I'm not offended, hahahaa. I knew I should have added a smiley. Sarcasm is hard to detect using a computer:cool:

Trust me, I know not to use cartomizers that long. In fact, when I do refill, I often chuck them after 2-5 fills--after that the performance decreases substantially.

I agree with you completley. It tis all about sharing our experiences. I learn something new everyday!:)

All that is brown is not burnt.

We seem to forget quickly that nicotine stains, as do some of the oil-based flavors.

:D I was keeping track of how many cartos I've used. I'm almost four weeks into vaping and I started a log last Monday listing every carto and battery change and the time changed. I am using an exclusive "vape" Outlook calendar for this. When I get the courage to refill, I'll keep track of that as well. You are my OCD mentor.

You can lump me in with Lynn. If there are others maybe we can get our own OCD sub-forum and discuss vapers that "don't even keep track" of their vaping. We could have threads like "I forgot to log in my usage over the weekend - EEK!" and "I can't make the logo on the carto line up with the logo on the battery - HELP!" and "someone un-alphabetized my carts - what to do?"

OCD and me...perfect together!
