How many Watts can I go?

For the past 11 months I've been using a combination of kanger pro tanks and then more recently nautilus tanks with their respectful "throw away" atomizer heads. With these tanks I've been using either the itazte vv 3.0 or itazte VTR while keeping the vaping around 8-10 watts.

I've since purchased an Eleaf Lemo and have been making my own single coils in the same 1.8-2.5 range as the protank and nautilus coils.

Should I be able to and get successful results by cranking up the heat to let's say 12-15 watts now that I'm rebuilding the coils with cotton? Have the stock coils been holding me back in terms of cranking the heat? Maybe because they don't wick as well self-built coils?

I use the Lemo at 20-30 watts with the stock coils. With my home built coils I can go 30-50. You may want to put your own wick into the stock coil. Make it fluffy enough to wick fast but tight enough not to get hotspots. That RTA is pretty tough and so are the coils. 1.1 ohm 26 awg. Make sure to have a decent diameter coil!

When i I first got the Lemo, I wasn't able to use the stock coil because the VV 3.0 or VTR didn't have the power to push it. I have ordered and am waiting for a Smok XPRO M80 Plus to arrive, my soon to be first real mech mod. Anticipating its arrival and the ability to put real wattage behind my Lemo and other tanks, I would like to know if I can still build 1.8-2.5 ohm coils and drive the watts up. Or will I have to start building 1.0 or under coils to achieve this.

I've been using a Lemo for a couple of weeks now, but never tried stock coils. I started with 27 gauge Kanthal at 1.6 ohms on a 3.5mm pin wicked with Koh Gen Do and was having trouble with the occasional burnt hit at above 30 watts. I wanted more air flow anyway so I modified it for that and also opened up the juice channels a bit. It's good with that setup now to 40 watts. I currently have it running a 28 gauge titanium coil with temperature sensing and it's also fine up to 40 watts. I tend to run it between 30-35 watts. It has great flavor. Wicking is key with these Kayfun style attys.

1: You Smok xpro m80 plus is a regulated mod.
A mech mod is just a container for the battery and has no electronics.

2: Bigger coils need bigger watts.
If you build the same coils, they will take the same watts.

Thanks. A regulated mod with a mech mode. Bigger coils meaning bigger ID or lower resistance?

More wraps means more surface area which means more wick/liquid is vaporized creating more vapor. Yet more wraps means longer heat up times. I'm a lung hitter and am constantly getting cut off from the 10sec cut off feature when vaping and am always craving more. What can I do to maximize the vapor per second of firing the button?

FWIW - I'm using a Lemo, air flow is wide open. Says 2.8ohm with cotton build. On a VTR at 13 watts.

Have you Tried using a Thinner (Higher Gauge) Wire ?

Thinner wire Heats up Faster.

I have 2 gauges, 28 and 32. I used the 32 back in the day when trying to rebuild protank coils and when I got the Lemo, used the 28. Have not tried 32 gauge in the Lemo but I will next build. I assume keeping 8-12 wraps is a good idea as it will create the more surface area to burn more right?

What I like to do is to use this Site ...

Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators

I fill it out for the Build/Watts that I have that I like the Best, then I write down the "Heat Flux" number. This Number then becomes my "Baseline".

When I change Wire Gauge or Ohms, I then check to see what Watts it is going to take to get to me Heat Flux "Baseline". I then Adjust the Build so that I am in the Middle of my Watt Range my APV can Output.

I don't Like to make a Build where I have to Max Out the Watts on a APV. And making a Build that is close to my Baseline Heat Flux at Very Low Watts makes a Small Change in Watts a Big Change in Heat.

What is you heat flux baseline/preference? I think I want mine to be much much warmer than whatever mine is now. I do use that site and can still count on two hands regarding how many successful coils I have been able to walk away able to be vaped on. I had to get one of those coil master winder things to assist me and let me know the ID to better use that site.
