"How much did you pay for that thing?"

I need a little help. I keep getting asked what I spent on my vaporizer. Seeing as how it was about 280$ altogether, and I am somewhat ashamed of this pricey investment. When people compare my clouds to those produced by the average corner store e-cigarette, the inevitable question always comes up. "How much did you spend on that?" I'm tired of having to answer this question, and I need advice on how to avoid it.

Thanks in advance.

Just tell them you've won many awards and medals at the local cloud chasing events. When they ask what a cloud chasing comp is, you tell them it's like a rap battle. You go head to head with other slobs, trying to blow the biggest cloud of vapor.

sorry but i laughed.

and to the op, you dont have to answer the question fyi. if you feel insecure about using your mod in public then dont use it in public.

dont use it in public and get a cheaper on for out and about?

One reason I switched to vaping is that it is less offensive than analogs in public spaces. Not to mention smoking is banned on campus, but vaping is still tolerated.

Just hang a big tag on it that says " IT COSTS $280"

The point is to not let people know how much is invested in it. I might just let the wrong person know how much it's worth.

"I traded my kid/wife for it."
"I stole it."
"It was given to me by interstellar beings."
"I built it."
"I sold a kidney for it."
"I found it in an unmarked grave when I was looking for a brain to use for my Frankenstein project."
"It's a figment of your imagination. I don't know what you're talking about."
"I don't believe in money. I traded some blankets and handmade beads for it."
"I found it in a sunken pirate ship."
"It's a light saber given to me by my Jedi Master."

I didn't get the fear of theft angle...I'd just make the call - someone you think might talk about it or steal it, just don't answer. Or say whatever you want: "it's a $20 copy of a $200 device" maybe.

I've been asked, and I don't want to discourage a new vaper - so I'll usually say something like "I started vaping with stuff that costs under well under $100, but now it's like a hobby and this one's kind of pricey". That's about as far as their curiosity usually takes them.
