Maybe I look at it differently than other people. Let's say I will live to 115. 5 years off would put me at 110. Honestly I am not sure I want to live that long.

So if one could honestly tell me how long I will live then I could give you answer.

My wife's grandmother and her now her father both have Alzheimer. If you were to tell me I would have that disease, I would smoke until I could not smoke any more regardless of how many years it takes off my life. It would be a godsend. The docs said it would get better once he hit the "all in stage" that point where they can't remember anything. Nah... it is not true.

So far I have had my grandmother tell me she just wants to die and a father in law tell me now. None of it had to do with smoking.

It is all about perspective.

I don't have a specific number of years I'd be willing to give up (unless it's rap music and rappers in general - then I'd gladly take 10 years off my life to never hear or see another one again. Ever since my generation released this hideous "music" on the planet, entire generations have grown up liking a "musical style" that contains very little that qualifies as music or singing ability). My rule is, when I can no longer wipe my own ... then it's time to go.

I'd be in for a 10 spot to get rid of Kayne West period.

According to the calculator (above) white non-smoking American male have life expectancy of 77 years.

1 PAD smoker – 72 years. It means average white American pays for smoking a pack a day with 5 years of his life expectancy (2 PAD = 9 years)

As I ponder missing out on five years of Depends and Alzheimers, I start wanting a cig.

Ha ha, I'm 20 and I put in single and it said I would live to be 75 years old. I changed the relationship status to married and it said I would live to be 83. Seems counter-intuitive to me. SO what this is saying is... The longer I wait to get married, the sooner I will die? Screw the not smoking, marriage is where it's at.

I find the term "life expectancy" amusing. Have a plan for that and more, but I sure don't expect it.

I want to leave this world the same way I came into it, screaming and covered in blood (the naked part is optional.)

I prefer to live the life I am given to the fullest rather than expect a life that is not promised. In that singular moment before our souls depart this earth we will find one of two things; contentment or regret. I would only have regret if I left dreams unfulfilled due to fear of death. Contentment comes from living in the here and now, experienceing each moment as fully as possible. In 2005 I was given a 50/50 shot at being around in 2015. I was fourty then and will be fifty this year. I hope to ride a motorcycle across the Rockies' back country next year, why should I play it safe now when my time is borrowed anyway.

Maybe I'll live to 77, maybe my cancer returns and I die next month, either way, I don't want any regrets.

That calculator is wrong, I'm off my anxiety and anti-depressants now that I'm single again.

I drive a lot of miles/yr to get to and from work. Due to that, the calculator decided I need to walk 140 yards a day to make up for it. Since I generally walk about 3-5 miles a day while at work I've got that covered. I'm 57 and single. The calculator also told me "Being single gains you 0.7 miles a day."
