(I found a special sale, got a gallon each of pg and vg, delivered for $44, it's now about $72).

That $44 delivered price is still a reality even in today's world...if you buy it from Bulk Apothecary when they have a coupon code or $10 off a $29 or more order sale. I regularly get my gallon jugs of it from them. Including S/H from them in Ohio to me in Florida...a jug of each runs anywhere from a low of $36 to a high of $43 + change. It's super quality PG and VG, too. Quite a few of us on ECF, and local vaping friends, buy ours from them.

Oddly enough I was looking into making my own juice the other week after I ended up with a load of free flavour concentrates (UK company Chefs Flavours were giving out free samples in goodie bags at their Chefs Fest)
I was looking for the cheapest easiest way to make up a minimal sized batch as I haven't made my own liquids before, and it averaged out to £25 plus shipping for enough VG and nic shots (as I said cheapest way) to make up 600ml of flavourles liquid. So that was 0.5l BY, 100ml of 18mg VG nic shots and ten 60ml bottles, so 30 ml would be £1.25 (or in this case £2.50/60ml bottle)

Excluding mixing gear (some of you have exotic industrial hardware, lol). I'll start ...

My AVERAGE COST*
Nic (48mg): $25/120ml = $0.208/ml
Flavor: $4/30ml = $0.133/ml
PG/VG: $12/1000ml = $0.012/ml

My Typical Mix = $0.83* ($0.62 USD) per 30ml bottle
Nic (0.3mg/ml): 0.2 ml/30ml = $0.04/30ml
Flavor (15%): 4.5 ml/30ml = $0.53/30ml
PG/VG (85%) : 22.0 ml/30ml = $0.26/30ml

$1 CAD = $0.75 USD (multiply by 0.75 to get USD)
I was curious myself, and threw this together a few months ago. You'll notice I buy & consume in small volume, so a higher volume user would do better:

Your Nic price is a little high IMO.

Agree. Many vendors selling 100mg/ml nic are waay cheaper, particularly if on sale and even moreso with flash sale coupons.

I figure nic and flavors are the biggest variables in lowering the overall cost of DIY. Some DIYers that use RealFlavors SC (Super Concentrate) with typical 3mg/ml mixes average $0.50 per 30ml bottle (excluding bottle).

A bit of number crunching in Excel tells me the cost of what I'm vaping works out about $1.15 per 30 ml.

That's primarily because I bought pricey, freezer-ready nic. I could probably get down to $0.75 if I used cheaper nic, but I have rather a lot of this stuff that's already paid for.

Still, my cost to vape for an entire year is about what a single carton of cigs would cost, and I used to go through one of those every five days. So DIY vaping is cheaper by a factor of about 70 than smoking was for me.

Here is my famous Cucumber Dill recipe, costed out. Add 66 cents for 2 Gorilla bottles, that get reused indefinitely. Note, this is for 40mgl juice. This was a 2017 recipe, I have since sourced less expensive ingredients.

I vape mostly (80+% of the time) unflavored. I buy nic by the liter ($45-50 US @ Heartland Vapes, and RTS/Nicotine Giant respectively), and PG ($19 US), and VG ($14 US) by the gallon @ Bulk Apothecary.
A 30mL bottle of 40PG/60VG 18mg/mL unflavored runs me $0.37, not counting the bottle.

I generally buy my flavors in the smallest size available, so I get no savings there. I use as inexpensive mfgs. as TFA and FW, to more expensive ones like FA, INW, and FLV, so prices are a bit all over the board. But, for a bit of a higher-than-normal (for me) example: a 10 flavor, 14.55% total flavoring recipe (DinnerLandy Lemon Tart Remix by dazcole), runs me $1.20/30mL, w/o the bottle.

I vape about 3.5mL per day... so, about 1,278mL a year.
80% of 1,278 is 1,023 multiplied by $0.0123/mL equals $12.58/year
20% of 1,278 is 256 multiplied by $0.04/ml equals $10.24/year

So, I vape $22.82 worth of DIY a year. That's less than half what I paid for my last carton of smokes ($48, and last me 7 days).:thumbs::cool:

Now, if I could just stop buying new flavors, and new hardware, and learn to be content with what I already have... I might actually start saving a little money!
:lol::lol::lol:

There was a man here, he might have been a woman, that use to make 750mls of unflavored or cheesecake flavor for 87 cents. He posted about it every time someone asked, "what's your favorite store bought juice?".
That strikes me as implausible. PG/VG alone costs roughly $10 / gallon when bought 4 gallons at a time (without shipping). That's just about $2.00 per 750ml.

Damn people from Florida, you just can't trust them.:)
I did find out the real origin of Florida man. Florida has a peculiar law that makes it the only place in the nation where such oddities can be published easily. If the law were nation wide it’s real possible every state would produce such peculiarities.

I’d kind of like to see it actually.

I love this thread because it shows.. everyone agrees no matter what folks buy or how they mix, vaping is cheaper than smoking... and DIY vaping just Rocks.

0.7 cents a day beats a 5 dollar pack of cigarettes so bad the Dow Jones felt the hit. It's why they want their FDA buddies to regulate the hell out of liquids with the very expensive PMTA.

Good god people actually calculate this.
Heh. I go so far as to write down dates when I fill my 30ml 'filler bottle'. I even guesstimate times of the hour when I fill my RTA.

I'm just into my last liter of pre-made base, so less than .95 cents if I vape just the base, less than a buck fifty if I add some flavor to it. In a year and a half or so I'll mix up a liter of 100 mg/ml into 4 liters of base liquid. I'd have to add in the cost of PG and VG to that, and I don't have either of those so I'm not sure how much 30 mls of the end product will be then.
The 4 liters of 25mg/ml will be less than 19 bucks a piece..
