She has been smoking all of her adult life, about 70 years. She had cut back to 4 or 5 packs a week.
I just ordered some Prime15 and Tribeca (which seems to be very popular). That will give her three choices. She dislikes menthol.
I got some mini tanks just to see how well they work and if she will be bothered by them.

Those are great choices and if she doesn't like one of them, they all mix well with each other so you have even more flavors than the three (if you mix them). I never smoked Paul Mall so not sure of the "flavor profile" of them but also Freedom is a good tobacco flavor.

(pssst, yo DoctorDun, ,..., yea you, cummere, listen. It wouldn't kill you to take a hit or two off of the thing. You'd gain a lot of knowledge on the flavor part. And it'd be useful as a benchmark when problems come up, like burnt flavors. A 2 second drag will tell you a lot.)

(lol, I know, I know, but it's not like the scene in the old film "Reef r Madness" where one hit and he goes psychotic! And I wouldn't want to get someone addicted to anything. But I can't help but remember Ralphie from 8th grade saying the same thing to me, lol)

I have never put a cigarette to my mouth, so I am not sure I would know the difference between a good flavor and a burnt flavor. My guess is that they would all taste bad to me.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks........

this is a common misconception among non-smokers and non-vape users, e-cigs and regular cigs taste absolutely nothing alike.

a regular cigarette is being ignited and burnt, undergoing complex chemical changes, and flavor is derived from the newly created substance after the complex chemical reaction.

e-cigs merely heat up the liquid to a gas (like boiling water, even in gaseous form, it's still water), so the flavor is a lot closer to how pipe-tobacco smells. thats why the huge gamut of juice flavors are so well received by the community at large, because the taste compared to regular cigs is so vastly different.

if you can tell the difference in flavor between lightly toasted bread and burnt toast, then you'd be able to taste the difference between a good hit on an e-cig and a dry burn.

I will build up the nerve and try them then..................

Update on Mom. She been here 2 1/2 days. I have tried all three juices on her and her only comment is that they are mild. She could not make a choice of which one was more pleasing. She has difficulty making decisions. We are still in the transition phase for e-cigarettes. A lifetime of habit, she still asks where her cigarettes are and I hand her the Halo G6. It seems to satisfy the ritual and nicotine.
So far she is only going through about 1ml per day, which I think is a good thing. It keeps me from having to do a bunch of refills each evening.
I have set up a spreadsheet, I know it's probably overkill. I am tracking how much juice will go through a cartomizer and mini tank, before they have issues.
Has anyone else actually tracked this? All I've read it that cartomizers are good for 7 to 10 refills and mini tanks are good for a week, what ever that translates to?

Thanks to all for your help and suggestions.

It all depends on which juice., some gunk up things faster than others. General rule of thumb beingi sweeter and darker gum think sup quicker than clear and non-sweet.

How many batteries per day? just using 1?

But yeah.. if this can keep her happy...or at least not complaining too much. Then this is the way to go.

Just one battery. The 78mm one. I have a couple of the 102's if necessary.

sounds like you are getting off easy then. I hope it stays that way. Plus now you got backup batteries if things die.

You have a backup charger too? If not.. get one next time you order something.

The service life of a carto or a tank is different on an automatic battery than a manual, depending on the vaping technique. What I like to do is let off the power button and continue the draw for about a second to cool the coil; hopefully the juice doesn't cook on it, prolonging it. It seems to work for me.
(Hint from our Evie luv!! Thanks!!)

But with an automatic, you have no choice.

Doc, it'd be cool to see your stats after a coupla weeks. I think the torque ones will go the longest. Are you tracking just to get the life, for reordering? Or also the cost. But I'm sure even if it cost as much as smoking, it's still a great thing to do! (And I think it'll be about 25% of the cost of smoking, after a few weeks.

I forget the other flavors you got her. But as her taste buds regenerate, the taste will get stronger.

Tell her we're very proud of her! :toast:

I am tracking for life of the cartos and mini tanks. Also tracking for how much juice she uses. I have Trbeca, Prime and Torque. We plan on her returning to visit her old home stomping grounds every three months, so I need a handle on what and how much to send with her.
She seems to be taking less puffs than when she first started her conversion.

I'm late to the conversation, but I just wanted to say what a fabulous thing for a 70+year smoker! Not only healthier, but so much safer for her and everyone else (thinking dementia/fires here). She said she found the flavor mild, but to my thinking she wasn't getting the nic hit she was used to. No issue now as she seems to be used to it. One thing about Halo liquids is that they're not light on flavor to my mind!

Hope she continues with this - and congratulations to you for helping her on this journey!

I'm glad she seems to be doing well. And it's OK if she doesn't have a favorite. I think it's good to change up between the flavors. At a minimum, I'll vape 3 flavors a day.

And Amanda, very good point about the fire issue. This is a forgotten safety benefit of vaping. Check this out...

In 2011, U.S. fire departments responded to an estimated 90,000 smoking-material fires in the U.S., largely unchanged from 90,800 in 2010. These fires resulted in an estimated 540 civilian deaths, 1,640 civilian injuries and $621 million in direct property damage; deaths were down substantially from the year before.
The Smoking-Material Fire Problem

We are very proud of her. And you, Doc.

Mom is 87 and still going strong. She really can't seem to tell the difference between the flavors of juice. I've set all three in front of her and had her take puffs from each and nothing different in her taste buds. I suppose it really doesn't matter. I was just trying to find out what she liked best.

You are so sweet! Maybe once she has quit for awhile and her taste buds come back around, she will be able to tell. heck by then, you might be pulling your hair out cuz she wants to try new and different flavors! LOLOLOLOL
