How much should I be vaping?

I haven't been a heavy smoker for quite some time & a pack of Marlboro Mediums or Camel Lights would last me roughly a week and a half. But now that I've been vaping for a bit it feels like the ratio of analogs vs cartos is somehow getting off.

If I've read correctly one carto equals roughly 20 cigs, and that roughly 14 puffs is equal to 1 analog. With that being said...if I take 21 puffs a day (roughly 1 1/2 analogs) my carto will be dry in 2 days give or take. So I'm smoking a pack every two days now, instead of every two weeks???

What do I need to do to correct this? I currently am using the 11mg cartos.

A full cartomizer is actually closer to 10-15 analogs, with lots of variables affecting the actual number (draw length, battery vs passthru, etc). The only places I've seen a claim of an equivalent of 20 analogs per cart is from places like Smoke Everywhere, or similar companies that ply their trade in malls and whatnot. Actual number for something like that is 5-7, at best.

Moving up in nic content may help, and provide more bang-for-the-buck in both nicotine delivery and throat hit.

Personally, I find that if I don't watch for it, I could easily vape thru an entire 12mg carto while sitting at my desk for an hour or two. Normally, I'd smoke maybe 1 or 2 analogs in that amount of time. Granted, I'm using a passthru, and I no longer have to put on a coat and drag my ... outside, so the convenience factor does tilt towards heavier vaping.

In answer to your question, my best advice would be find something that's workable for you in order to stay off analogs. It might take a little experimentation, but I think most people here would agree that it's worth it.

It may be that you are vaping more because you might be using to low of a low nic level for you. I have found ( for ME) that 11mg nic level is like a Marlboro Ultra Light. 18mg closer to Marlboro Medium. 24mg is around that Marlboro Red strength. ( Keep in mind.....this is what works for ME)

Have you tried different nic leveled cartos?

Thanks for the replies. I haven't tried a higher mg yet but will on my next order. But if one carto estimates 10 analogs... then shouldn't I be getting somewhere around 140 draws per carto? I'm going to take count on my next full carto and see exactly how many (roughly) 5 second draws it lasts me and then post back here again once it starts to have that burnt taste or no flavor.

i was a pack a day,

i vape about 2 full carts a day (36mg).....
now i know the numbers may not add up on paper, but in 'body reaction'....this feels absolutely equal to me.....

so all math and ideas of nic uptake aside,
this is how it works out for me personally........
on your end, i wouldn't worry too much about it... after all, you arent smoking the pack any more....

just up the nic, and see where that puts you on terms of cravings...

I've seen a lot of people post how much they vape a day in mls. Seems like 3 mls a day is kind of an average for a lot of people, I was wondering how much myself and did a lot of reading on the main boards about how much to vape. 3mls a day would equal 3 cartos a day of the new cartos that have 1ml of liquid per carto, at least that's what I think V4L said they were putting in them now. If you have the older cartos, they only hold 3/4 of a ml. of e liquid, so you'd vape even more if you were "average", that would come out to about 4 a day. (the 3 mls a day was pretty much across the board average no matter what mg. was being vaped)

When I saw that a lot of other people said they were using appx. 3 mls a day, that hit home for me at that time, because I was using a mod and sure enough, I was going through about 3 mls a day, my mod is 6volts, very close to the passthrough.

Of course, nothing is set in concrete with vaping and everyone has to basically figure it out for themselves, but seeing what others were doing and finding out I wasn't going overboard helped a lot. :)

Using cartos that are not refillable would not be an option for me, it would be way over my budget, even more expensive than cigarettes, not that you can put a price on health, but it would have doubled my cost of smoking and I couldn't have done it.

i think something else to keep in mind is that i didn't take 5 second draws on a cig. if i pay attention to vaping (rather than doing it mindlessly, i mean) and vape the way i smoked--every 45 mins to an hour, 2-3 second draws for a few minutes--my carts do last as long as a pack. but i've found i prefer vaping lower mg, and vaping as much/whenever i want, which is obv going to be more expensive (at V4L where diff nic levels don't equal different retail cost) than vaping higher mg less often. now i like to have a variety of mg levels on hand based on how the flavor is at that level, what my craving level is, etc. once i'm past say, my 3 mos mark, i'll prob start charting how much (in ml) i'm vaping to see what the pattern is, but i suspect it will even out over time.

Also, the length of the carts depends on the length of the draw... as Belletrist noted, the 5 second draw is different than a conventional cigarette draw... moreover, if you use batteries with 10-13 second cutoff, it would seriously skew the ratio. I vape more than I smoked because, well, I can. Having said that, with 10 second draw, I am finding a cart to equal about 6-7 cigarettes.
