I vape about 4-5 ml of 12 mg juice a day and have not OD'd yet. That's like chain vaping almost the whole day. Just vape until the urge goes away and be on the lookout for signs of nicotine OD (headaches, racing pulse, etc)

All e-juice I'm familiar with contains a combination of propylene glycol, vegetable glycerine, food flavoring, water or alcohol. Propylene glycol (PG) is not the same diethylene glycol or ethylene glycol (anti-freeze). It is generally considered safe and is used in among other things medicines. It is also used in "safe" anti-freeze because of it's low toxicity.

No they do not contain Diethylene Glycol. They contain Propylene Glycol which is the "safe antifreeze" ingredient pets can drink without harm, concert fog, and the way hospitals deliver inhaled medications, even to lung transplant patients.

Re how much to vape - there is no way for anyone to know that but you. We do not know the size of your mouth or lungs, the efficiency of your atomizer or cartomizer or any other information that would allow us to guess. When I first started vaping I just tried to vape as often and for as many drags as I used to smoke. Later many people start vaping more often for fewer drags but with some sessions that have a lot of drags - i.e. just vaping for however much you need. Sometimes I need 2 drags. Sometimes I need 20+ drags (like in the morning).

Many people vape 1.5 to 2.5 ml per day. Nicotine in vapor is not absorbed the same an in cigarettes. There is not direct comparison. If you get too much nicotine you will probably get one of more of the following symptoms: headache, rapid or irregular heartbeat, cold fingers/toes, hazy or ill feeling (but when you first switch to vaping you may get that hazy/ill feeling anyway as the 4000 chemicals in cigarettes leave your body).

Drink plenty of fluids - vaping can be drying. And it doesn't hurt to take a multivitamin for the first week.

If your mouth, tongue, throat or lungs get sore - that's usually nicotine skin irritation. Get juices with some VG in them. 20-50% VG is nice in atomizers, 20-30% for tanks, 10-20% for cartomizers. VG helps buffer the irritation though it dulls flavor and TH (but 10-30% VG still leaves plenty of flavor and TH)

It is really difficult to say. It depends on what you are using to vape:Atty, cartomizers, voltage, etc. Actual nicotine absorption is another controversial subject all by itself. Varies from person to person. When I was still strongly addicted to cigarettes, I vaped 18mg nic and it took about a dozen good long hits on my eGo with standard Boge cartomizers to satisfy the craving. YMMV of course. At 11mg, you would need to vape quite a bit to get too much.

Also, it is Propylene Glycol that is used in e-liquid. Not the same at all as Diethylene Glycol.

edit: LOL! I see dormouse is quick on the draw again! With great info too...I'm just pathetically slow to reply! You are all kinds of awesome ms mouse!

...also, i heard that these things contain Diethylene Glycol, which is chem in antifreeze. anyone know about that?

This 'claim' came from an FDA report of 2008, in which just one cartridge (from a very, very small test batch) was found to be contaminated with a trace amount of diethylene glycol.

Vape away! It has to be a whole lot safer than inhaling the smoke from burning plant material!

I agree - vape until you feel satisfied. At 11mg, IMO it'll be tough to nic-overdose before your craving goes away.

I don't know how much you smoke cigarettes - I smoked about a pack and a half a day, and I vape 24mg. I think the amount of cigs you smoked matters more than the variety when it comes to vape comparisons, but that's just me. If you're feeling unsatisfied, you might want to try 18mg or 24 if you are a heavy smoker.
