I've read through quite a bit and am planning on buying the Joye 510 with extra parts and what not so I can quit analog cigarettes for good. Certainly the health and smell aspects are a big part of this, but is there really any incentive when it comes to cost ?

Tell me if I'm wrong about any of the following:

The initial investment for an inexpensive ecigarette kit is $30-$50
(A nice one over $100)
Atomizers last an average of one month and cost $10-$15 a piece
batteries also die and run $15-$20
A heavy smoker will go through 5ml of "juice" a day (I'll round up to 30ml a week) at a cost of $20-$30 a week
A personal charging case is required if you're a heavy smoker who isn't around a car, computer or outlet all day- that's an investment of $25-$30

So not even factoring in some other things like wanting a variety of eliquid flavors, being a gadget-head and wanting to try different kinds of ecigs- it seems it costs as much to vape as it does to smoke. Of course, this could be a geographic thing, cigarettes are $5.00 a pack here and probably cost more in other states and countries.

Have you saved any money? REALLY? I'd love to know the truth on this.

I haven't spent a fraction of what I spent on analogs. I spent $130 on my M401 kit. $30 for juice. With the tea bag mod, I haven't had to spend anything on new carts. I bought one extra atomizer for $7 (including shipping), but only as a spare. My original is still going strong after a full month. Both batteries are still holding the same charge they had a month ago. I'm almost out of my first bottle of juice. I don't know how many ml. it was, but it's a tiny bottle. I vape off and on all day. The second bottle was a caramel flavor I didn't like, so it's half gone. So by my estimation, I'll spend appx. $22 per month. If I have to buy one atomizer each month, that cost jumps to a whopping $29! That was 4 days of smoking analogs.

1. $50 bux for a 510 kit, my fave...
2. $30 for the charging case,PCC.
3. $20 for 30ml of juice.

These setup is good to go as far as hardware is concerened for months. I use my 510 alot and it takes me about 1 week to go through 10ml.

After the intial cost are gone, I suppose it costs me about $1 a day, actually it's less than that, to use my ecig. That's not counting the electricity to charge my batteries....

The above pricing is retail, do some digging and you can find this stuff for about half of retail sometimes more.....

a quick tip try to find one sight that has everything you need at a good price. if you pay a bit more on one shigt but can get all your needs then you will save a boat load on shiping. also i always tell people to avoid the stand in the mall like the plauge; however i found that the one by me has some geat juice at a good price and that eliminates shipping altogether.

one more thing i alwaysa believed in function over astetics. so you may not get a show piece but it will work. and if you think the $100 one is better than the $50 one ask arround. you may be suprised

I'm spending about $100 per month, analogs were costing around $400.

I have five batteries for my 510 and a usb passthru, I use the passthru over 95% of the time so other than when my wife vapes the batteries are pretty much just collecting dust.

I'm ordering about 4 atomizers per month at $7-8 each. I go through about 100ml of juice and so far I just order premade direct from China at around $10 per 30ml bottle. I've also decided to give up on fiddling around with restuffing carts and buy them at about $2 for ten.

So on the whole it looks like about $80 per month MAX for my regular supplies and another $20 to order a flavor or two to try out. For instance I'm trying to figure out how to order chocolate, cheesecake and cinnamon roll from ecigsmokestore right now but the order process is giving me a deer-in-headlights sensation.

So yeah, I'm saving $300 per month.

I was around a half a pack/day smoker. My initial investment was around $300 for a 510 kit, a bunch of extra batteries and atomizers and enough juice to last me 6-9 months. I was buying 8 packs every paycheck (2 weeks) at $5.65+/pack = ~$90/month. I figured I'd break even at around 3 months. You can save a ton by learning to make your own juice. Buy higher concentrated juice and cut it yourself. If you shop around, you can make a 30ml bottle of 12mg for around $7.50. For most, that's enough to last for 2 weeks or so.

The pitfall you will probably run into, as most of us have, is that you will continue to buy all kinds of things even though you already have to enough to last 3 years.

    Somewhere between here and there
I think most of my expenses so far have been buying different flavors and strengths of liquids to try. I bought two 510 kits for less than $100. I have spent probably twice that on liquid but I do have enough to last probably 3-4 months without buying anything else. I also try to watch for specials and discounts. Drew at nhaler usually throws in little extras with each order. His kit also comes with two bottles of liquid and some carts which I like. I am thinking about a janty stick for my next purchase. I get a little tired of switching batteries with the 510.

I have spent a total of 600$ for me and my lady up to now

Me and my lady started vaping 3 months ago.

    Thats 300$ per person.
    That`s about 100$ per month

and I still consider these start-up spendings because right now I dont need anything else. If I buy something (and I want a mod so much) it will be not because I need really need it....

    That`s for:
    2x m401 (actually we have 6 batts / 4 attys)
    3x 510 kits (6 batts / 6 attys)
    2x 510 pcc
1x 510 usb passthrough for home and the car
about 300ml liquid, pg, vg, cases, etc.

I vape pretty heavy and I`m still behind the big red line lol
Cigarettes here are so cheap yet (about 2$ per pack) but I started realizing the possitives a lot later than I started vaping :D
    :cool::D

I will probably top off around $300 or so for initial investment, not including all the juices I want to try...

But. I spend about $9 per pack on the cigs I smoke. (tried other brands and they all give me a headache) So I figure after I'm done "adjusting" and "stocking up", I'll be ahead.

Mind you, I'm dirt poor, and had to cut down on food to get all this stuff. But I consider it a worthwhile thing anyways. If I keep smoking, I'll die. Analogs give me heart palpitations, asthma attacks, migraines, etc, etc. Vaping does not - at least no-where near as much. So... I can live with the initial expense and the learning curve (pretty steep, for me), pun intended.

    Cheers,
    Briar.

Thanks for all the responses! I think I'm still in the frame of mind that this is "too good to be true." I realize that vaping isn't the same as smoking, but I am a *very* ritualistic smoker so just inhaling anything containing nicotine will probably get me off the regular ones pretty quickly. Hearing that there is a cost savings as well...geez...sign me up! I want these stinky things out of my life for good.

Thanks. I did find a site with everything that offers free shipping on orders over $100. It's also one state over so I imagine shipping won't take two weeks!
