Hi All,

Still kind of new to all this but I've been doing a lot of research into DIY and I've learned quite a bit. I do have a few questions though. Both my wife and I vape so I am trying to figure out how much DIY supplies I should get or have on hand. The thing is I don't want to buy too much and have it go bad before I get a chance to use it and I don't want to buy too little and have to keep reordering. I'm mostly talking about PG, VG and NIC. I did some math on how much we are both vaping and it figures out to be around 30mil to 40mil in 3 days and at the prices we are paying for juice it isn't so economical. I mean should I buy a gallon each of PG and VG or would I not use all that in a reasonable amount of time? I do plan on getting 100mg nic and cutting it down to more user friendly percentages, what I had planned was to split to 2 bottles of 50mg and storing the one not in use but how much should I get? Both of us are using 18mg juice and an occasional 24mg. I will most likely do some juices at lower levels as we seem to really like to have a good evening vape session. If I missed all this info somewhere I guess I need to do some more reading but thanks for any help.

If you keep the nic in the freezer, it can last for several years. I bought 1L of 60mg nic and took out 100ml for mixing in a glass bottle and the rest is in the freezer. VG and PG i haven't put much thought into as they are relatively cheap, but I would assume they would last longer if you kept them in cold temperatures although I don't and my PG and VG haven't changed. If you haven't started DIY yet, you're probably going to have to go through a lot of trial and error before you find mixes that you're going to like. I would recommend Hoosiers Blog for this topic as he addresses all your concerns.

Let's see, I remember getting my first gallon of PG and thinking there was no way I was going to use all of it up in a timely manner. Then thinking the same thing with the first gallon of VG. I was trying to remember how many gallons of each I have gone through since then, but all I know is it is less that a dozen and more than 5.

Glass bottles, put your nic in them and freeze it. It will not change states into a solid and like most other materials on earth, except for water, shrinks when cold, so get them pretty close to full, only a small bit of headspace for air, and keep it in the freezer. It lasts for quite awhile that way and stays pretty close to the way it was when you first got it.

I know you're looking at this from a price point angle, but I would seriously recommend Capella's Flavor Drops for your first mixes. Yes, they are more expensive in terms of $/ml, but they are much easier to work with than most other flavorings. Most skip level 7+ on my flavoring levels chart/blog which basically means it is easier to tell when you have too much flavoring and when you have too little flavoring. This allows some leeway in getting a feel for mixing and what you like and fewer tossed batches.

Then just have some fun with it...

I am looking at it, to some extent, at price but on the other hand I don't mind paying for quality. Capella's is on my list along with the other major brands of flavor. I would just hate to get a gallon of whatever to end up dumping half of it down the drain because it went bad but then again from what I gather I don't think that will be an issue.
