How often do rivas and egos fail?

I have had my Riva (750 mah) for a lil over 5 months and the two batteries still work great. The batts can take up to 300 charges and if you rotate the two that comes with the kits they will last over a year at least possibly two years.

Someone above said they can get batteries cheaper which is true BUT you also need to buy a Mod (ready made e-cig) to put the batteries in and they cost at least 25 bucks for the cheapest I have found. For the 30 dollar Riva Kit from Liberty Flights you get two 750 mah (all day) batteries a charger, a nose cone and 10 cartridges and two 2.0 ohm atties. For someones first Kit that's a deal that can't be beat and it's way better than any mall e-cig. Plus Liberty Flights is a Great company who gives great customer service. If something is wrong with your Kit they will make it right. They have a 3 month warranty much better than lots of other places.

Whoa!

As I recently posted in another thread, juice will eventually seep into the Riva battery and fry the circuit board inside. I like my attys WET, WET, WET.

Seriously? My mother is the worst carto filler ever. To be fair to her, she can't see very well. When she has an issue, I know it's usually her fault. I'm forever cleaning her battery and her chargers. Chargers seem to go fast because of her juice issues. She is still using her original batteries. As a matter of fact, except for a couple of her automtic KR808's that she fried right away, even the manual's are still going. None of her KR808's still have the LED caps because she's forever dropping them but despite all the abuse, her Riva and KR808's seem to hang in there.

I used to use eGos and Rivas before I switched to a high voltage mod. The only time these things failed on me was when I tried to use them with LR atties and cartos. Otherwise, I never actually had one die on me. I was using two 750-ish mah batteries for about almost a year before I burned them out with LR atties.

I should add, I did kill a vGo one time because I charged it on an eGo charger. No warning about that from the site I bought them from, and no refund/replacement. Guess that's the idiot tax.

This is encouraging actually. I have had my Riva 1100Mah for about 3 months which is about as long as I expected to get out of them and have had my eyes open for my next purchase when one of them dies. I am glad to hear so many have said they generally last longer.
As for Tonyorion's statements, I could not disagree more. I have found that in virtually every thread there are healthy amounts of both good and bad opinions on whatever is being discussed. I have always been very truthful in my posts as to what has worked for me and what hasn't and even if I am the only one on a thread who does not like a product I don't hesitate to post because people are respectful of your opinion even if they don't agree. For instance, I have had too many problems with burning cartos, so I don't use them anymore. Others disagree and yes some suggested I wasn't using them correctly (which I may or may not have been) but I do appreciate their suggestions and tips.

On my fails, a couple of different modes. One 808 went stuck on, any time you put a carto on it fired, then the LED turned on permanently -- I put that one in a ceramic cup away from everything to let it die peacefully. Most Rivas I believe had broken wire/shifted battery -- if you gently shake it you shouldn't hear/feel the battery moving; the lifting of the center contacts also got old after a while.
As SF said, the price point is good, 808s and Rivas are what I recommend for new people to give vaping a try. I prefer my 2 VV mods, that's all I use other than special times where I need a small auto, but they come in at $130 - $160 by the time you add 2 sets of batteries and charger, a high price of entry for a new person.

I have definetly seen what tonys talking about. Some people are entirly to loyal to these brands, and they can get pretty mean if you say somethings wrong with yours. Not saying all the time, but he has a point.

Maybe, however his way of putting it was certainly uncalled for ..

Fact is, there is way more good reports than there are bad ..

Oh I definitely do too. It's only natural when you think about it though. Some people on the board have smoked 10, 20, up to 60+ years and haven't been able to quit despite all the issues, health problems ect. They buy a pv and just like that they're able to quit. It's only natural for us to think the pv that was able to do that might help someone else do the same thing. So I think the tendency to want to recommend what helped us comes from a good place. Plus if someone had a bad experience, you want to point that out too. I feel almost guilty when someone asks about a tank and I don't at least comment that tanks can have issues.

So there are fan boys/girls of the pv we use but it's more than just saying mine is better than yours. There is a degree of wanting to help and also not wanting to see someone else make the same mistakes.

Ya' know what? I like the way you think!! Good point! I feel so warm and fuzzy inside...then again it may just be gas.

Oh, let's see. My first ego kit from cignot - I lost one battery, so we won't count that. The other got wonky in a way I now know was the center post being pushed down, and was probably more than savable if I weren't ignorant to the way these things worked. Bought a t-Rex kit next, which is a colossal piece of garbage for quality. First battery literally fell apart at the neck within 2 days. Got it replaced, and it did it again, with the second in the kit doing the same. One of those is still in service after 2 months now, and is actually my only real working battery until my KGOs arrive.

Also tried 2 of the FS ego clones from mypvshop. Better structural quality, but horrible build dimensions. These things run with a massively shorter center connector and will not connect to anything eGo specific. I think the v2 extender shorted out my 1100mah battery, and the 650 is crooked and sets off the overload protection every time it wiggles.

Ordering some KGo batteries tomorrow, hopefully those will work out better. I think the best thing to do in the ecig world is research, I sure wish I had read up more on the colossal duds I've bought in the last 3 months trying to save 10 bucks...

Well crud, I knew I shouldn't have posted on this one. Just had my first Riva go bad...oh well I wanted to try a Kgo from Hoosier anyway ;)

BTW 3 months on that one lol

Edit: Weird I did not think this one was charging but it seems to be ok....I may have jumped the gun on ordering the Kgo last night. But then again a spare never hurt anyone (until my wife finds out I spent another 45 bucks worth of stuff )
