Hello all,

I am new to rebuilding and wondering how often should I change the cotton wick and the coil? Any commons rules? I am using .6 sub ohm coil (Kanthal A1, 24), Japanese Organic Cotton on Delta II RBA at 20 W, vaping about 5ml of juice daily.
That can depend greatly on the juice's flavor solids/sugars content... both of which can produce a thermally resistive, "caramelization" layer on the coil, promoting a slower heat capacity (time to temperature) juice vaporization.

An atty used with light, not excessively sweet juice may be able to use the same wick for weeks... or longer (my example - absinthe in a R91% at 0.9Ω net), while an atty running a dark, sweet chocolate mint (my example - 1~2 days in a Origen V2 at 0.5Ω net) may be doing well to last two days.

Other variables would be PG/VG percentages and heat flux/heat capacity values for a specific combination of wattage, wire gauge and length, net resistance and parallel coil count, if any.

See Steam Engine and SE User Guide links below... for a better understanding of the above references.

Personal preference really! some people change their wicks each time they switch flavors. some will change after they use a "darker" flavor when going back to a light flavor.
If you only use one type or One flavor, the rule of thumb is about every 2 weeks, which this same rule also calls for changing your coil(s).

I guess ultimately its up to you! My girlfriend has changed her's out every other day this week. I asked why, she said "just cause...."
