I drive for a living, sometimes I have others in the vehicle with me, when I do ask them if they mind, most of the time they don't in fact many of them also vape and are glad I do so they can also. when not at work I try to hide my puffs if I'm someplace where smoking is not permitted, I was at the dentist office the other day and sneaked a few puffs in while waiting.

A couple months ago I went back east and stayed in a hotel I was vapeing in my room, apparently there was vapour coming out of the room and someone "reported" me for smoking. Security came and insisted I was smoking in my room (it was pretty cloudy) even after explaining I was vaping and showing them my mod they still insisted I was smoking. I asked them if they could smell smoke they said no, and after calling another person up to the room they reluctantly let it go, but said I couldn't vape in the hotel either.

Was this a Marriott property? They tend to be real @$$h013$...

Kudos to everyone that keeps vaping!:thumb:

I vape everywhere except in people's faces or where there is no smoking. More often then not, I will get a smoker that asks questions about it or a former smoker that says wow, what is that and then say I wish I had that when I was trying to quit.

For those that feel it is a stigma, you really should not feel that way about it! You are trying to improve your life and you should celebrate that! I personally feel it is right up there with someone that is trying to loose weight or furthering their education or taking a class to improve their own well being. You are quitting an addiction that carries thousands of carcinogens and you are on the road to getting healthier!

Celebrate your vaping, you are on a journey to improving your life!:vapor:

I only hid it when I first started vaping because I was shy about it and having to explain what it was to people. That lasted maybe a couple of weeks, then I went the opposite and vaped anywhere or everywhere I could without offending people.

How can a company tell you that you can't smoke or vape? I know it's out there, but unless your health insurance is paid for by the company, how do they get away with this?

What's next? Tell you how many children you can have or what to eat for breakfast, which god to pray to?

I totally think the stigma is misplaced but people see that vapor and an automatic association with tobacco smoking is made. It's going to be like that until the general public knows more about vaping. I was at a casino about a year ago and was vaping my Provari/eBaron Dripper and the ole guy next to me got up in disgust, waving his hand in his face, and stomped off. And the eBaron produces itsy vapor compared to what I'm using now lol! He had no clue, but he didn't know he was clueless. If he had known I honestly believe he wouldn't have reacted that way. The stigma in action.

I recently tried to apply for a job within the Baylor Healthcare system. They ask if you use any nicotine products including gum, patch, or vape. I answered honestly and my application immediately terminated because they are a nicotine free facility. They preach to their patients to not smoke therefore if you smoke or use a nicotine alternative product you are not eligible to work there. Wth?!
I find it very interesting because I have worked in Cardiology for a looooong time. My doctors prescribe Chantix. They encourage the gum, patch, vape, anything other than a cigarette.

I vape in the open...cept at work, I stealth vape inside, but outside no problems...if i go in places and will be there for some time, i will ask them if they have a policy on vaping.

When i went to universal earlier this year, i asked them what the park policy was and they had no problems, as they said i did not have to go to the designated smoking areas, which was great cause i really didnt want to have to hunt down a smoking area

In Colorado my B&M pal went to the zoo vaping zero nic and people put up a HUGE stink and he wouldn't stop until the zoo guard came and told him no nicotine replacement anything is allowed. He then asked how they could tell if someone was wearing the patch or chewing the gum and as a matter of fact he had no nicotine in his device at all. The guard stammered and tried to find a point to argue on and finally blurted out, "Well, it looks like smoking so you make smokers think they can smoke!!" And my friend said that was a very good point and said he wouldn't vape while in the zoo.

A couple people came up to him after being part of the group of people who turned him in "for smoking p **" and were very curious so all the folks who had gathered during the kerfufle got an education on vaping, several of whom walked away with his business cards to give to relatives and friends.

In the state of Oregon as per my wife, it's illegal to ask you if you smoke or not. This question came up probably ten years ago and may not be the case today. How unfair to discriminate like this. But on the other hand it's okay for a medical facility to charge 100's of dollars for medicine that may cost them a few bucks to purchase. If only the medical field cared more about people than making money, the world would be so much better off in the long run.

I only vape where I would smoke cigarettes when I smoked. If a family walks by when I'm outside in public, I'll be courteous and move away. I was allowed to smoke in my patio, but didn't because I know smoke would go straight upstairs in my neighbors window. I wouldn't want it coming in my house for my kids to breathe, so I would give my neighbors the same courtesy. I will vape in my patio though. No harm there.

I'm sure I can't vape at work, so only I my breaks.

Don't vape in front of my kids. They know that I do vape, and are very happy it is the only thing that got me to stop smoking cigarettes. I tried gum, patches, cold turkey, and buproprion (I think it's spelled),I think it's similar to chantix. Tried to quit for years time and time again. Anyway, I explain to them that it isn't healthy either, just a healthier alternative. They are smart boys and understand it is far from cool to start doing either.

I will never vape where smokers smoke. I can't stand the smell and it's harmful. It's NOT the same and we need people to know this. Until it's proven that our vapor is harming others, I will vape everywhere.

I agree completely. I am NOT a smoker any longer, and I refuse to be treated like one. I can't stand the smell, and whether or not "2nd hand smoke" is harmful or not, it still stinks and I don't want to smell it or have it get into my clothes or hair.

One of my vapes has a strong smokey smell, and my husband commented on it. So, I only vape it late at night after he's already gone to bed, so he doesn't have to smell what, to him, is a stink. By the time he wakes up and comes in here to the kitchen, I've been in bed for hours and the smell doesn't linger, the way cigarette smoke stink does.

But wait, there's more. Baylor put this policy into effect a few years ago. 2 years ago they had stated they would not hire individuals who are overweight. I don't know if that went through or if it is asked on the application because I didn't get that far in the process!!

It's the same logic, they want healthy employees. Smoking and/or weight issues =unhealthy employees = higher insurance premiums for said employees. Or maybe they are just concerned about their image.

I was a respectful smoker, and I am a respectful vaper. I know the truth about vaping but most people don't. I don't feel that it is right of me to force others to come into contact with my vapor without their consent. I don't vape in public places where smoking is not allowed out of respect for others. In the eyes of most non smokers, it is the appearance of something similar to smoking. I would not appreciate someone smoking cigarettes in my immediate airspace. We have to put ourselves above the "I can do what I want, I don't care what others think" mentality if we are to keep our vaping rights. Aggravating other people to the point that they participate with the groups trying to outlaw vaping is not a good idea. We need them as our allies not our enemies.

I vape just about everywhere and don't bother hiding it, after hours(let's not try to think of how many) of cruising these forums even though I am pretty new I have actually been the vape info source for everyone at work. But I am always thoughtful with my vaping as I was when I smoked. I agree with penguiness, while ignorance is one of my biggest pet peeves, every non-vaper that we upset or rudely blow our vapor at is another person that not only will not bother to learn about vaping but will likely jump on the anti-vaping bandwagon. We as a community are not large enough to stop anti-vaping legislation, we just don't have the numbers. We need non-vapers to help us, which means educating them on the benefits and differences between smoking and vaping. Sorry about the rant, I'll put my soapbox away now
