I've probably smoked about 2-3 packs of smokes since I started vaping about 1.5 years ago. The first pack I smoked within the first few months of vaping . .it took a while to get adjusted to vaping and I smoked anywhere from 1 every few days to a few a day on certain days. The rest have been a lot more intermittent . .ie . .one here or there when my gear is annoying me or occasionally I'll bum one from my wife who still smokes. I was pulling some overnighters on a work project and found myself smoking a cig in the wee hours of the morning a few times.

But that's about 545 packs I *didn't* smoke . .so that's a win, if you ask me!

The wife commented the other day that she discovered when she got cravings, all she had to do was vape more. Okay.....

A friend that had quit smoking many years ago would get almost uncomfortably close to me to get a whiff of my second hand cigarette smoke. He's been vaping for about a year now and was one of those that got me started vaping.

As far as it goes for myself, the cessation is very real. The time on the banner below is real and while I have had a few cravings in the past few months I've still got one cigarette within easy reach in my truck but I have no reason for keeping it other than a testiment to myself the I can and have resisted temptation and will continue to do so.

BTW, I don't consider my quitting "cold turkey" in any way. I've done that before PVs and it was pure hell. Replacement of the cigarette addiction with vaping was so easy!!!!

I cut down from a PAD to about 8 stinkies a day but I was stuck there and couldn't reduce any further. Then I had a smoke and left for the local B&M to check out vapes. I had a half pack on the shelf next to the ashtray in the garage when I left. That half pack is still sitting there getting stale. What a shame. :D

when i started vaping, i didn't intend to really quit smoking. but i eventually cut down. i've had about 3 cigarettes in the last 3 months. i have no real urge to smoke cigs anymore. when offered, i can easily turn it down now :) i thought it'd be harder having a roommate and friends that smoke, but it's not bad at all.

Op, how are u that close to the edge on juice? I have been vaping for less than a month and I have about 30 bottles! Buy more! Vapedojo has 5ml bottles for 3 bucks, drop 30 bucks on ur 10 most interesting.

Same here. I've been vapin since lunch time Jan 1 of this year. I think I've got 19 or 20 bottles of juice.
I had been smoking for 45 years up until then. Lovin the vapin. No more stinkies for me.

I look at all juices and gadgets available for purchase with suspecting eyes, I have accumulated 5 batteries, 2 protank-II mini, 1 protank-II, two chargers, 100 premade coils, and about 3 meters of wicks since I started (about a month ago).

I'm pretty sure I have spent just about 100 bucks and I am already in the black since I started vaping. Health and savings both matter to me so I don't just go out and buy lots of juices knowing that I won't lie 95% of them.

Since starting this post, I have begun to mix my own DIY juice and I think I did okay with my mix. Finally something I really like! Taste is great, vapor is insane, and is mixed to work just right with my protanks (you know how those are with diff liquids right?). Nic content a bit low on this first patch, TH is weak but I kinda like it like that (just a lil bit more would be nice).

I did some calculations on my mix. It came to about $1.50 a week given that I vape 2ml a day and about $6/month. AND I GET WHAT I WANT.

As for gear, I have tailored my juice for my protanks and ego-t's so I have everything I need for two to three years.

I have got my mix to the point where I can vape the whole tank and my battery terminal would still be dry. Huge, when it comes to protanks. All the juice I bought from vendors have either leaked into my battery cuz they were too thin or would barely vape for being too thick.

With DIY, you are the tailor and you are tailoring for yourself. You just get better.

No more juice issue,

I haven't had the misfortune of running out of liquid (or pre-filled cartomizers at first) since the day I quit smoking. I think I could go 24 hours without vaping but I'm not sure I could endure it much longer than that. It's been quite awhile since I had my last cigarette. I wouldn't want to go back now so I guess if my cravings got to me bad enough I would drive as far as I had to just to get some juice.

Personally, I would rather drive 200 miles round trip for some juice than spark up an analog. I wouldn't have to go that far because we have a decent vape shop right here in town but if it came down to that I would make the drive if it would keep me from lighting up.

Having said all that, I wasn't in a big hurry to quit smoking when I started vaping. I took my time with it and continued to smoke for 9 days after my first vape.

A bit off topic but it's the throat hit that I crave, not the nicotine. It was the same way with cigarettes. I had to have that throat hit then and I still have to have it now.

I am in the still smoke a few camp. Usually one in the morning with coffee, occasionally at home I will grab one out of old habit and light up. I still enjoy an analog and don't feel too bad about it as I used to smoke a pack a day, now a pack will last about a week. Mostly I enjoy the vaping because of the fun flavors. I am not saving money (yet) as I keep buying more cool gear and trying new flavors of juice, but I figure I will start seeing the savings when I decide I am done buying new stuff!

I'm pretty sure it is the nicotine which delivers the throat hit more than anything else.

I was a full time vaper for a while, from 2009 to 2012, having the odd ciggie here and there.

I had gone to full time smoking again, since then.

Now I've started vaping again, and plan on quitting analogs again for good this time, starting today (Will be quitting Sunday, at 10AM)

It is currently 4:33AM now on sunday. (in Australia)

Wish me luck again, although I think its going to be as easy as the last time to quit smoking 35 ciggies a bloomin day!!!

I think I might need some support this time more than last.

Going to try and keep my signature (quit cigarettes) growing day by day as I vape myself to freedom!!

My wife and I pretty much quit cold turkey. When had been trying (and trying and trying and trying) to quit over the course of many months. A friend had tried to talk us into vaping, but we were skeptical. After a particularly hard day and with both of us craving a cigarette very badly, I broke down and went to Wally-World to buy some smokes. Standing in line I noticed their display of Fin e-cigs. Only purchased one pack of smokes and two Fin starter kits.

The pack of smokes lasted through the night and into the next morning. I got my Fin working and was pleasantly surprised. My wife was a bit less enthusiastic, but gave it a try. It was "weird" for about 3 days, but we both really enjoyed being able to vape on the couch while watching a movie (we always went outside to smoke.) We never looked back.

Today, we have better equipment and recently started mixing our own juice: Provari, eGo, drippers, Kanger tanks, and Genesis tanks and enough juice to last us a year and a half. Haven't had a smoke since the day after I bought those Fin cig-a-likes almost a year ago.

YES! DIY is definitely the way to go. It's not only cheaper. You can make your juice exactly the way you want it. No more yucky, disappointing juice!
