How safe are they? (stock batts from LT)

This is my first post here and I would like to apologize in advance if a similar topic has been discussed already.

I got my LavaTube from a local reseller. It comes with the standard LT Body, 2 510 attys, 2 generic batts and a charger.

I've used just one battery for 5 days (recharging from time to time) then I took the 2nd battery to use it. It was misfiring from time to time so I took it out, let it sit on my desk and used the 1st battery that was working properly. After a few hours, the 2nd battery that I was misfiring started leaking. A clear liquid was dripping from the "positive" contact and had this foul smell.

I brought it back from the shop where I bought it and ask for a replacement. The owner replaced it with the same battery that he took from one of the new kit.

How safe are these generic batteries? I am opting to buy those "branded" ones but when I tried putting it, it is just too long to a point wherein I cannot screw the bottom part. The generic batteries are pretty much the same as the AW IMR 18650 (red ones) available, bad thing I wasn't able to try them if it will fit.

I am soo eager to get a branded "protected" ones but no idea which brand should I get. For the time being, is it safe and how long will I be able to use these "generic" batteries?

Thanks in advance.
