here is my response in the comment section.

an online virtual e-cigarette store for kids 13 to 17. dont waste your time and tax payer money. i'll tell you the results right now. 99.99999999999999999999999999% of those kids will think its cool. a study obviously designed to have one outcome. kids are enticed by advertising. and then there is flavors. flavors automatically equals marketing directly to kids because, flavors. no further argument there.well i am not letting them hide behind the children any more. it is already illegal to sell these products to minors in many states. most others will soon follow. if one really wants to keep these away from the children make it a criminal offense for minors to possess and use them. then conduct compliance checks on said minors and arrest them if they are in violation. fine and or imprison the minors and there parents and, whom ever gave it to them. there problem solved. parents in many states are responsible for alcohol consumed by minors on there property along with any damage or physical harm it may cause. in some cases the parents don't have to be aware of the drinking. these devices and flavors are on the market because adult consumers want and demand them. 30 years ago this fight was about the smoke. remember the smoke? the harmful part about using tobacco. now the zealots have had to switch horses in the middle of the stream. just like global warming is now climate change. smoking cessation has now become nicotine cessation. nicotine by itself is about as harmful as caffeine in similar quantities. its not smoke its vaper. worse case estimates of its potential harm indicate it to be 99% safer than smoking. yes there have been plenty of ignored scientific studies concerning this.99% safer means it is about as safe as your tap water.

"A third is building a virtual convenience store for 13-to-17-year-olds, measuring how e-cigarette displays and price promotions influence whether minors buy the increasingly popular devices."

What the hell does that even mean!? also, isn't that borderline entrapment trying to entice minors to vape.

geeze! if their intention was to drive vapers to a state or pure and utter rage then this article was a complete success!

If they set up a virtual store, there better be an age restriction set up.

They also could use the is data to see if kids are more likely to vape then smoke.

yes, but they see kids vaping as a bad thing-- regardless of if it's a safer alternative to smoking.

This whole topic just makes my blood boil. I'm so sick and tired of 3 letter organizations trying to micromanage my life. FDA, TSA, NSA, FBI, CIA, DHS -- They can all go eat a bag of {MODERATED} as far as I'm concerned. okay rant over now. sorry you had to see that everyone.

"We want to know what's in the emissions, not just the ingredients," said VCU toxicologist Robert Balster, who is helping to oversee four FDA-funded projects ...

"If it turns out that people are tinkering with the electronics to increase the voltage of e-cigarettes, and FDA regulations limit the maximum voltage, that's useful to know," since it may justify a requirement that the devices be tinker-proof, said Balster.

"Tinker-proof" ?

Is he kidding ? After 42 years in engineering, I can assure you that such device has never been developed in the history of mankind ...

I read this today as I was waiting for vapemail and it really struck a nerve, I guess the FDA has already made up the outcome, why spend so much money on a totally biased poll, why not just give it to big tobacco and big pharma and tell them to stuff it already. And by the way ask them what is their favorite ice cream, when they say chocolate or strawberry, to bad there is only lactose and sugar free vanilla. sorry the kid's think its a gateway to harder flavors like moosetracks.

No but they can make it illegal to "tinker".

There's been bills pushing that concept for years, some have gotten ground such is DVD and BluRay players with prosecutions, criminal charges and fines. It's illegal to tinker with cell phones now too. It has nothing to do with whether a person can or not. That's how they cover up bad design.

If they set up a virtual store, there better be an age restriction set up. I can't believe the govt is promoting vaping to kids. There should be outrage.

They also could use the is data to see if kids are more likely to vape then smoke.

IMO, they have stepped right into it by admitting that they will be studying kids vaping. Now we can easily (and honestly) say it is them (the FDA) that is encouraging kids (between 13 and 17) to vape. What? You don't believe me? Here, let me show you precisely that they are in fact doing this, while spending millions in the process to do just this.

If BT did exact same study, I'm pretty sure the response would be, "off with their heads!"

The tax farm known as USA.
Wonder why the FDA would spend $270 million on these obviously biased studies?

I personally cost the government over $1,400/yr in taxes by NOT smoking.

Multiply that out to 1 million vapers...

That's $1.4 BILLION per year in lost revenue.

270M? you do understand that this is like getting mad at someone for chipping the paint on your car after its been totaled, right?
