Scratching my head. I just saw a video of a guy configuring his sigelei 13b to have the side button on the top. I tried it, didn't work. My switch is not insulated with plastic, it's all metal. I don't see how the circuit is supposed to complete; you press the button and the positive side of the battery connects with.. the negative side. Or with the battery reversed, the negative side is connected with.. the negative side. Am I missing something here?

Also, can I kick this thing? I notice anything below 4.0 v is too weak, but I don't think I can build it any hotter without burning the cotton.

The tube carries the negative current, all the way to the threads of the 510 connector in the top cap. The center pin of the 510 connector carries the positive. The way a top button mod works is to have the negative of the battery always be in contact with the tube and the positive post of the battery only connect to the 510 connector pin when the button is pressed. Typically by making a physical break or disconnect in the positive path that's a small gap. The fire button has a conductive section that closes the gap when the fire button is pressed, making the conductive section touch the two sides of the gap.

Pretty much the opposite of a bottom fire mod where the battery positive is always in contact with the 510 connector center pin and the negative side of the battery only connects with the tube when the fire button is pressed.

I know a few of the Sigelei models went through revisions because the initial design was incorrect in some way. Perhaps the 13b was one of those and you have a design that only works as a bottom fire? Didn't a Google search generate useful info?
