Someproperly builtcoils will spit, there's just no way around it. That's why I suggested the "blow on your coils" technique to minimize it. Drip tips with physical blockers probably help a little, but most people don't want their airflow impeded. Some coil manufacturers put a little mesh on top of the cotton in their vertical coils to help alleviate any spit back as well.
Personally, I would try different ohm / metal coil heads before having to add more VG to my pre made juice, if a coil only last 2 day's it's either time to find a better coil or a new device .............
Might have something to do with the angle that you vape. It's a pipe style device so you are vaping at an angle much more so than a more traditional device????????
I think this might be at the heart of the issue, as the OP said that the spit back is coming out of the side airholes and not the drip tip itself. You might be able to put a fine mesh screen between those air holes and the coils. Thicker juice might help make things less "splattery" too (more restricted juice flow + it should stick to the wick a bit better).
