how to clean mixing tools?

Hey guys, new to DIY and i love it already! Quick question that i haven't seen in the stickies or other DIY threads is how do you clean your pipettes and syringes? I have a small bowl of hot/warm water that i stick them in and flush them with. Is the adequate? Would rubbing alcohol work better? Or would it leave alcohol in the syringes?

Hi Captain. I am glad that you are enjoying DIY so far. I also rinse with hot water while I am mixing but I also use PGA when I am finished mixing. I am not sure if PGA is available in your area but, the highest proof vodka that you are able to buy would also work.

I also clean all of my bottles with PGA before using and it has worked well for me. Just let everything air dry so that the alcohol evaporates and it will be fine.

ETA- I use glass graduated cylinders to measure everything now and they are better IMO because the numbers never wear off and they don't hang on to strong flavors like plastic will.

I only use glass bottles for storing my juice, and I boil them and let them dry before re use. My syringes and glass vials, I just rinse real well in hot water after mixing. I don't rinse and re use syringes while mixing. I use separate syringes for the nic, VG, PG, and each flavor. Then I clean everything up when I'm done.

I try and use glass when possible. But the plastic syringes get rinsed in hot water several times, plastic bottles get a bath in soapy hot water. I only make menthol/mint juices so the scent sticks pretty much no matter what.

thanks for the replys everyone! I didnt know if just hot water baths after mixing was good enough but it looks like im not the only one. I also never wash and reuse in the same bath. I wash with hot water and then let dry. I just started so i dont have a lot of mixing tools which limits me to a bottle a day lol. still trying to get my flavor percentages down.

anybody know if store bought rubbing alcohol would be ok? seems like it would evaporate faster than tap water..

Everclear or vodka would be better than rubbing alcohol.
