How to deal with fasttech imports charges

hi, firsttime I ordered from china (focalecig) to import a vapor flask and I got like 40$ of import fees from canada post. anybody with experience from fasttech? how it actually work?

I have some experience with fasttech, but not in Canada. Here in the States I have never paid import duties. If your government is more efficient than mine-- it's hard to see how they couldn't be-- I suspect you'll pay the duty no matter what.

Yup, any time you purchase a product that needs to go through Canada Customs you'll need to pay customs fees (duty). At least that's what I understand.

I'm a retired letter carrier (Canada Post) and we always had to collect the customs fees from customers when delivering parcels from out of the country. The customers were never happy about this [I still have scars ] because most times they weren't aware of this.

Are the import fees by size or weight or something? Like if I ordered a 2 dollar drip tip, I'd have to pay 40 bucks for it if I was in Canada?

I think the fees may be based on the value of the goods being imported. But don't quote me on that.

Anything under $200 is generally and should be passed through.
If your parcel gets noticed you pay GST & Customs fees.

Customs charges are usually not much.
