I'm a simple guy and once I get something that works well I will run it into the ground until I am forced to get something new. At one point I invested some cash into a Silver Bullet, which I loved but got tired of sending it in to get the connector serviced. I gave up once I got two failures within a 3 month span. Since then I have gotten cheap PVs like the bolt and other clones because I don't see the sense in investing more money into a mod that is just going to fail within a year. I'm asking because I really like the new mechanical Silver Bullet and want to start saving some cash for it but worry that I'm just going to go through the same thing again and again. Is this also what you have experienced and are there some pointers to extending the life of a 510 connector?

Somewhere out there
I have not had a 510 fail yet, in a year and a half of vaping. Even on my V2 vamo which was notorious for 510 issues, I haven't had a problem.

Don't over tighten and don't drop your PV, and most of them will work for a long time.

It may help that I'm not constantly changing toppers. I have multiple PVs and each one has it's designated topper that only comes off for filling or maintenance.

I suppose that's a possibility but the problem is that most tanks that I've used get a little liquid in the connector and I feel like I have to pull the tank off to clean it out. Like this new Genesis tank that I have. When I take the wick out to clean it I have to unscrew the positive screw which then drips liquid onto the connector every time, so I remove the whole tank to replace wicks to prevent as much damage as I can. Liquid deposits on the connector is probably the entire problem but I love the tanks that I use, especially genesis style.

An adapter??

I don't know if it'll help with the liquid problem. I don't have one of these yet so don't know if you have to unscrew
the adapter as well to clean up juice or if adapter fits well enough that juice doesn't get down in that far.
510 to 510 adapters
But they can save your mod/battery threads from stripping when tanks are constantly taken on & off.

Liquid in the 510 connector won't cause any problems - e-liquids are actually non-conductive. You need to keep the 510 connector clean though to get the best contact because of this.

Still not sure what your problem is though. Overtightening devices will increase the probability of stripping the threads. That, and dropping your PV with a device attached. If that's what's going on the only thing you can try, short of replacing the 510, is to use a 510 to 510 shorty extender, or an eGo to eGo extender (hard to find) depending on what connector you have.
