dremel just below the connector, but just deep enough to cut the outer shell, and not the battery. screw on atty, hold batt with pliers, and back n forth twist till it comes loose.
Done! I grabbed the atty with some pliers and then heat it up with a lighter, then screw the atty to a battery and start working it (pulling and rocking it sideways) until it came out.
Center picture shows dimension. For mine it's 0.3 inch. I cut then file back the outer to give good exposure to the center then epoxy insulate the outer. I use the center as the direct positive battery connection is a buttswitched flashlight mod. Shell connector shell is press fit into metal washer and epoxied on back side.
