How to improve airflow to CE4, CE5 and CE6 Clearos?

I jumped out of egos and clearos a few weeks after starting vaping but many of my friends and family are using ego and evod type batteries (mainly the spinner vv type) and I rebuild them their burned out heads to a lower resistance, 1.5~1.8Ω seems to work very well with most batteries and they're getting much better taste from the modded ones than the originals. Vapor volume is another thing.

To most of them I've drilled twin 1.5mm holes in the clearos' skirts which helps in many cases but doesn't in some others. Also I've deepened the battery thread air notches with a Dremel cuttng disk and that helps too. From an experience akin to sucking on an empty scuba tank it goes to that of a hard & cheap scuba-school regulator (divers among you will understand).

Question: The unavoidable restriction seems to be internal. I'm guessing the head positive contact pin in its bottom might be the culprit. Can anyone confirm this and has anybody found a way to improve airflow to the resistance assembly? Real solution would be of course a small dripper RDA like an A9 or Venus RDA/RBA but many don't want extra expences and, besides, there's a new (hopefully temporary) global ban on ecig related material into Mexico; thus for the time being many new items will be unavailable.

Any tips will be very appreciated!

I had the airflow problem when I first tried the CE4/stardusts and this actually fixed it for me:




... but the centerpost kept getting pushed in and I eventually went to Kanger T3/T3S that didn't have that problem

Some use adapters to get the airflow on CE's - it extends the length some and not all have reported success, but some have.

As mentioned, most of them are unwilling to give it a go with more advanced tanks. I've suggested Aerotanks or Protanks but many, specially the ladies, balk at the lollypop look on a skinny 11mm battery.

I'll try the adapters as extenders since I have several lying around in my materials drawer but I'm pretty sure the restriction is internal to the head.

Later tonight as soon as I manage a good quad build in my Igo-W² that I've been attempting for weeks (not continously ), I'll disassemble one with a burned coil and see if I can open the center pin hole a bit with a #6 dentist drill or otherwise provide it with better air flow.

There's basically two aspects to the airflow - one is through the battery notches and the other is through the coil and wicking. Sometimes there's a 'flavor wick' that usually sets on top of the wicking that goes through the coil and sometimes people remove the flavor wick for a better draw. The downside then is the wicking process itself OR a leaking problem because the space to allow more air in also allows more eliquid to flow.

The Kanger T3S doesn't create the lollypop look - which I don't care for either It has great airflow - actually for a few, too much if they like a tighter draw and I find that the T3/T3S is less likely to leak than all the others - CE and other Kangers. Too bad someone hasn't developed an air control for the mini (eGo diameter) sizes. Perhaps they have but I haven't needed any so haven't shopped for them.

I suppose I could take a dremel to the clearos, but I was wondering if there is a less destructive way to improve airflow on the CE4 style tanks... an adapter of some sort?

Just a thought but it might serve some to consider the Aerotank Mini for topping their eGo type devices. No drilling required as it has an excellent adjustable airflow system. It is one of the few devices that actually works as it is supposed to without tweaking of any kind.

Todd shows one on top of a black Evod but it would look quite stunning on a S/S version.

I have found success from a somewhat McGuyvered approach. That is: Not fully tightening the clearomizer to your battery. Just screw it on tight enough so it doesn't fall off, and is somewhat snug - don't overdue it. Not sure about the science behind this working for me, but it does hope it works for you as well.
