mad vapes has this as part of a battery description for some of their 18350 batteries.

Quote:
These are rechargeable EH brand LiMn2O4 (commonly referred to as Lithium Manganese or LiMn) batteries. They are safer chemically than Li-Ion batteries and do not need a protection circuit

Unquote

Probably to persuade the unwitting customer MV seems to me to be a bit vague as to whether these batteries are protected or unprotected. So can they be used in a Vamo or not?

As always, thanks.

,not quite sure what you use. What do you use? Names chenistry type? What is it. A high drain protected type? Unclear
Safer chemistry are actually safer to use, they are high drain batts. I use safer chemistry batts in my Provari, I don't have a Vamo so not sure what is recommended for that PV. bnrk

Vamos, Provaris and the like all have protection *built in* to the circuit. While protected batteries aren't a bad idea they should not be necessary in such a device and *some* protected batteries have had reports of perhaps being too well protected combined with the built in protection of the mod and they will fire inconsistently or not at all.

IMR "safer chemistry", as a rule of thumb, is preferred.

I didn't find their statement to be vague at all. They plainly stated that the batteries in question were Lithium Manganese (Li MnIn) are are safer chemistry batteries than Li Ion. They are "IMR" high drain batteries, therefore they are not protected.

I have no idea what batteries the Vamo requires. Most regulated V-V/V-W processor based APV's use IMR high drain batteries, and not protected batteries. But the Vamo might be different.

Also find out if the Vamo is picky about what tops are on the battery. Some APV's like "flat top" and some like "nipple top".

OP needs to brush up in a crash course on APV batteries. Here ya go:

Li Ion = volatile chemistry, require protection circuits. NCR

LiMn = safer chemistry, require no protection circuits. IMR

I have a Vamo. If yours is the V2 (gold spring, ego threads and 510, metal buttons, and most importantly... the grommet at the top of the inside of the battery tube to keep flat tops from shorting out) either flat top or button top will work fine. There are no special requirements or recommendations from the manufacturer. I recommend high drain IMR like the Panasonic CGR18650CH, AW unprotected IMR, or eFest unprotected IMR.
