Plastic retains the smell of whatever's been in it more strongly than, say, glass, and if it was 'nasty' liquid, reuse might leave the refill liquids a bit skunky too, or at least leave a fair amount of smell and taste from the previous one if it was strong. Just my experience -- I tried reusing an emptied, rinsed Dekang bottle a couple months back with TV liquid for my own use and figured that out.

3ml and up bottles for DIY and samples can be purchased inexpensively at USPlastics, they also have glass dropper bottles. (Candlechem on ebay is great too, but they're on vacation til March 8th.)

I often wrap the samples in extra bubble wrap or an old gift box (like jewelry comes in) in a padded envelope. Priority boxes are easier (free boxes) but it's 4.95 to ship of course.

I've only been asked about liquids at the PO when sending internationally, and then the clerk was satisfied when I explained they were plastic bottles, well-protected, and not containing alcohol. (They get concerned about flammability precautions, I guess.)

Thanks for the info. I sure hope I didn't change the taste of Geoff's juice by reusing bottles from another vendor. I boiled it and let it air out for awhile so hopefully it will be okay. I would hate to make Geoff lose customers because they didn't get the true taste of his wonderful juice!!!

Added: Wow their shipping at Boston Plastics is crazy!! 100 bottles (50 of 2 sizes) was only $21 but the shipping was $13.70!! I don't need that many bottles anyway, but they are cheap!

We don't have Hobby Lobby here and Michael's Crafts doesn't have empty bottles.

Boiling might eliminate more of it. Didn't want to scare you! Just reporting what I'd experienced -- I know I'm sensitive to whatever underflavor was in the DK liquids I'd tossed.

Shipping from US Plastics seems crazy, yeah, but ultimately I find I pay $0.25-0.50 a bottle which is decently economical for swaps or DIY. Certainly cheaper than I could find from e-cig/DIY vendors. Which reminds me, I need to order again...:)
