I see 50 posts, but the simple facts are that to get a Woodvil you need to knobble Dennis, who bought about 30 last time!
I admire that kind of single-mindedness and outright greed.

it was just a paltry 24...

Don't listen to him Doffy, they're all trying to scare off the competition! I got my first two top choices last sale on my old XP Windows machine with 1Gig of ram and slow broadband.
In fact, the sale started about 15 seconds before it was supposed to, so I was behind the eight ball at the start. Maybe it takes 15 seconds for world time to get to Australia
Make sure you're right there when the sale starts, and have your choices bookmarked in a seperate folder so you can go straight to a 2nd or 3rd choice if you don't get your number 1. I had about 12 mods bookmarked (they were posted up on the website a week before the sale). After an hour or so it was slim pickings, so if you have one or two in mind, make sure you're ready the second the sale starts. The ones that went quickest were the burls and ones with interesting patterns/contrasts, the ones that went slowest were lacewood and utile, I think zebra was slow too. If you want one of the more desired ones, you will have to try hard but be prepared for disappointment because there is a lot of competition. Any of the others were easy to snag if you were there at the very start.
If you bought more than one Woodvil in the last sale, you would pay shipping on each mod unless you pre-arranged with Rob to consolidate the order. I don't think anyone was game to put 2 Woods in their cart in case someone else bought one of them before payment was made. Hence people bought one at a time and paid freight on each one. I'm not sure what the arrangement will be for this next sale.
After the last sale, there was a lot of Woodvil trading going on for a few months, it gave me the impression that some people might buy a Woodvil even if they couldn't get the one they really wanted, knowing it would be good for a trade (or sale). From this observation I came to the conclusion that a Woody in hand is better than two in the bush.
Preparing for woodville + resin might throw even veterans off

So when is the next sale coming?
So when is the next sale coming?
I'm really looking forward to this. I've been cleaning a lot of houses to prepare for the cost of one. Then I came to this thread and was shocked, I didn't realize it was like the drip tip people and you never get a chance to get one because they sell out so quickly.
Do we get prior notice of when the sale is happening?
I'm sorry I'm so new to this. I would just really like to have one. And I just learned the F5 trick because of this thread.![]()
We kid. No worries. Yes, Rob will post the date well in advance once he decided and post pics of them all shiny and new.![]()
You'd be surprised how fast 400 will go. I'll bet there are slim pickings after an hour.Oh, that's awesome! I think with 400, that would be enough for everyone. I was thinking it was more like 50.
What is the price range?
Pics and prices are still on the site from the last run. I assume pricing is always subject to change, especially as material costs vary.
Yes, Rob will post pic of each mod on his site in advance of the sale, then at the appointed hour it's a mad dash. Last Sale I got my first choice then choices 2 through 6 were gone and I then I got choices 7, 9 and 14. It's not like choice 14 was slouch either. with 400 being made you can get one, the question is which one.
So part of the fun is looking through all the pics making the lists, trying to guess which ones will hot and what to go after.
So if you think everybody will go after that one special mod maybe you go after a different one , but wait what if everybody had that plan then you could sneak in and get that special mod. Oh let the games begin!
Here's my choice 1 and 14 from the last sale.

Man, those are both horrible looking. You should probably sell the 18650 one while it still has any value. With the Chalice, of course. As a fellow Reonaut, I'll throw myself on that grenade and take it off your hands. You know, out of neighborly generosity.
