I'm trying a slightly different approach...

For the last 6 months I've been either currying favour or finding dirt on every one of those little geeks in my company's IT dept.

The other day the head geek stopped by my office all excited...he started telling me about site security, DOS attacks and back doors, creating dummy PP accounts and drone terminals with spoofed MAC's and IP's routed through front side proxys...I'm like "easy Sheldon, in english..."

His response was basically, "so how many of these woody things do you want?...or should we just buy them all?"

:p neener, neener, neener...

Quick question- how will you know if the one you have put in the basket gets snagged out from under you? I only plan on getting one, so I don't need to purchase multiples. I also don't want to wait to see if I got it and not have Woodvils left to choose from. I have 6 woodvils, but this is my first "sale" [emoji6]

That's a great question...and from what I understand from my "uber geek" buddy who builds eCommerce sites for a living, it really depends on how the "cart" is set up. Typically the "cart" or "basket" is only a place holder for the customer so they can see what they've considered purchasing. Placing an item in your cart does not lock the product in as a "sale" and pulling it out of "in-stock" inventory...until you actually lock it in by going through the transaction process the cart is totally virtual....if that makes any sense.

add: Keep in mind, that's how carts or baskets typically work, Rob's site may be set up differently.

Not that I particularly wish to help advance your cyber-terrorist denial of service attack come sale night :))), but Rob's site does, indeed, treat the cart as a placeholder - actual inventory claiming happens at completion of check-out.

As an added twist, maybe think about snagging all the woodies and charging them all to Dennis.

So if once you have completed the transaction, there is no chance of a double sale? As in if two people put the same mod in their cart at the same time.

Pretty sure there is no "at the same time".

If we both put the same Cocobolo in our cart, and both put in our credit card info, then both click "BUY!!" at exactly the same time, then my electrons race your electrons to Maine, and whoever gets there second get's an "OUT OF STOCK" error message and has to start all over with a different Woodie.

My electrons are running wind-sprints, but I'm not sure it'll be fair because they have to get all the way there from California, which takes about 0.016 seconds. I'm trying to get that down to 0.01, but Relativity keeps getting in the way, they get there, but they're really short.

Quite correct, my understanding is, when the payment goes through (checkout), it's yours and yours alone and is no longer in inventory for purchase. If someone purchased it seconds before you did, I *think* you get a message to the effect the item is no longer in stock. I've never heard of an instance of 2 people buying the same mod.

That said, because of the way it works, it's to your benefit to purchase and checkout each mod you want, one at a time. Otherwise, it's likely someone else will purchase it out from under you, while you have it in your "cart", looking at more mods.

It's also a good idea to have decided on your 2nd choice, 3rd choice, etc., in case the one you want is already gone when you checkout.

(Dang it! I forgot this was started as a MISinformation thread, now I've ruined it :( )

Just joshin' yah, momma-b. You'll do fine. Maybe recruit a geek to do the actual sale night shenanigans? You'll have plenty of time prior to pick out your favourite choices.
