There have been so many posts about people having issues with that damn metallic taste you get with the rebuildable atomizers. It can be so frustrating, even off putting to an otherwise well versed vaper to have the stupidest problems that they just cant seem to fix. So since I have to write 5 threads before being able to post I'll start here.

One thing I've noticed is many of those who venture into the world of rebuildable atty's complain about that metallic taste we all have come to know so well. So lets start there! What are some of the methods people use on wire before wrapping that wick, wetting it, and jumping into that nice tasty vape!

In essence, I want everyone to know how to produce the best fruits from their labor!

What do you prefer, Lighter vs Torch?

Some say that the torch is overkill, others say they wouldnt do it any other way!

Do you quench the wire? (in Laymans terms)

Heating the wire and slow cooling it will soften the wire making it less resistant to bending, helping to achieve that coil shape you were so scrupulous about... BUT, the wire remains flimsy and when you loosen your grip you see it loosen... This is especially annoying when building micro coils.

Others heat and quench to do just the opposite! makes the wire a little harder to work with because its that much less forgiving. Its hardered and more tempered meaning whatever you wrap you wrap and then its a pain to change it. With microcoils a quench can make it a little easier to run with, at least in my experience.

Also, theres a difference when using a VV, VV/VW, and a mechanical mod. watts are IMPORTANT! Amps are important! sometimes more imprtant than the voltage itself! I personally use my provari's more often than not and the different size wire makes all the difference. For me, I like the 31-32 Kanthal A1 with organic cotton.

Anyway, hope the topic drawas a little attention, cant wait to be an active member of the forum!

Happy vaping,
