I won't 30 awg kanthal so I thought but every wrap I attempt ohms come out to 0.0, will not heat up and nothing happens. I'm building coils for a cyclone RDA arty and can not seem to ffigure this out. Posts are good no wraps touching even spaces no wire touching other then post holes. Could I possibly bought non resistance wire and if so would this be the problem? All my other coils work but I used 32 awg kanthal I've never had a problem wrapping till this new wire please anyone have any thoughts?
Just read the other thread to get the rest of the information.
1. You have a coil of 4 wraps made with 32g Kanthal that reads 1.2 ohms.
That means that your wire length from post screw to screw is about 1 inch.
2. You made another coil with 5 wraps of 30g.
Even with the extra wrap it's not going to be much longer than 1 inch. Maybe another 1/16. At 0.8 ohms per inch then a coil of 1 1/16 inch is still going to be less than 0.9 ohms
3. The Lambo ohms tester will only work down to 1.0 ohms. It just doesn't like the coil you made for it. Look at the specs.
4. You really need some other means of checking resistance if you're doing coils with such a low resistance. I recommend that anyone re-building should at least have a multimeter even thought they are not ideal for our purpose. Prices start around $12-$14 including postage.
5. To get a coil of 1.2 ohms with your 30g you'll need a wire length of 1.5 inches. I reckong at 1/16 per wrap you might need about 10 or 12 wraps.
