Bought a kit from a local store. Asked for the Joye eGo C twist. He recommended just an eGo C without a twist. After much discussion I settled on it. Kit cam with 2 900mah batteries, CE4 clearomizers, a usb and wall adaptor. When I got back to my office I noticed it was actually a eGo T and also, it does not have the joyetech laser inscribed on the bottom which make me think its a knock off. I paid 97 for it which I know is a bit more than online but I wanted to quit smoking. Question is, should I be upset about the product? Concerned it will poop out? Thanks guys and gals.

The vendor sounds a little on the shady side to me. You came into the store wanting a particular product and he sells you something else. And it might be a knock off brand, at that. I hate vendors like that. Burn me once, shame on you, burn me twice, shame on me.

Why did the vendor recommend against the Twist? Did he not have any in stock?

odd that he "down sold" you...
thing is, sadly most B&M think that all of their customers are dumb and don't know anything, OR they are in it for the $$ and don't know as much as a person here with 200 posts lol
i would not be all that mad, just a lesson learned,
atleast you didn't spend $100 on a cheap 510 kit and got some awful china juice....

He said to me that as a new person to it, he would not recommend a VV. He said he has seen too many people mess up with it and end up quitting rather than a simple non VV. Basically said it was easier. He did have some he said but I never verified. I have written him an email letting him know I think its a knock off too. Just not sure if I should demand to bring it back or just ask for a percentage off. I just am unsure of the quality at this point.

I'd take it back and demand a refund, then go order what you're wanting online. If the vendor doesn't want to give you a refund, I'd file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau AND contact the NY Attorney General's office (along with the attorney general of the state the vendor is located in). Most state attorneys general tend to frown on the shenanigans of shady business owners, and will cheerfully nail 'em to the cross- and in many cases will even help you get your money back (they did for me, anyway).

Oh, and if you just want to quit smoking without spending a bunch of $$$, I'd suggest checking out the Volt. I just ordered one a couple of days ago and am still waiting (somewhat) patiently for mine to arrive in the mail. I got the kit for UNDER $30, including shipping! My cheapie cig-a-likes helped me quit smoking, and I wanted to upgrade to something similar in form & function- just better quality. Good luck to you! :)

Does he offer any sort of warranty? Can you return it?

It is what it is at this point, and I wish you the best of luck with it. I've purchased non-Joye ego type batteries in the past and they've been OK.

If you want to try a spinner or a twist, you can always pick one up on sale for $20-$25. Never hurts to have an extra battery on hand. I'd also pick up an extra USB charger while you're at it. I was vaping about a month and my USB charger stopped working.

I am pretty sure this is the same shop I have been to. The two guys that own it are nice enough but I have noticed that they do sell knockoffs. Right now I have two batteries from them...forget the mah on them. One is a genuine Joyetech eGo-C twist it appears and the other is a knock off Tornado C with a genuine Joyetech tank skirt and knock off atomizers. At least when I got these batteries it looks like they were getting them from Electronic Cigarette | E Cig Liquid | Totally Wicked E Cigs.

I have since switched to buying all my parts, mods and juices online as its cheaper and more convenient. I get my juice from MBV and it usually takes 2-3 days for it to arrive by mail. I figure if I am ever in a crunch I can stop by that store.

They are pretty reasonable people so I would be interested to see what they have to say.

The vendor is probably right in saying you should start with a standard ego instead of a vv. At the same time $100 is very steep for what you got, especially if it is a knock off.

I happen to disagree that an eGo Twist or Spinner is not appropriate for a beginning vapor. True, it's not necessary, a fixed voltage eGo can serve just as well. However, getting a Twist or Spinner is not that much more than a standard eGo. The beginner doesn't have to use the variable voltage feature, but having it to begin with just saves the owner extra money down the road for another battery should they want to try variable voltage, and in effect increases the usability of their first setup.
