How were you introduced to vaping?

I have been smoking for four years (not a very long time), I go fishing a lot and I know a lot of people who fish the same place.
A friend of mine was introduced to vaping by someone else he met whilst fishing, so that's how I found out about e cigs.
Its great to have a vape whilst fishing, now instead of talking about fishing all the time we also talk about different flavours we have tried and what's best to use and so on.

So what's your story?

My local analog vendor had some disposable NJoy's for 7.99. I tried one, and even though they're pretty terrible, I thought it was pretty nifty. Spent the next 12 hours reading on Vapersforum and ECF, then ordered a Volt kit the next day. From the first day I got my Volt, I've only touched 1 analog and that was just to see how it tasted after a couple weeks off of it. I now have the Volt kit, 2 Riva batteries, 2 kGo batteries, and as soon as I pay my 2011 taxes this week, I'll be ordering an Infinity Pro.

My brother and I are (were) 30+ year smokers, him with his menthol and me with my full flavor and the occasional cigar. While I have quit (paused) smoking during my tenure, he had tried many of the doctor approved methods, and neither of us had been able to successfully quit for more than a couple of years.

A little over 3 weeks ago, I get a call from him and he was raving about a new e-cig store that just opened in his area. He had purchased a starter kit and was able to all but stop smoking analogs after just a couple of days. That was all the endorsement I needed, so I bought a kit that day. While I've had the occasional analog since then (when both my batteries were dead), I have to say that I absolutely prefer vaping to analog cigarettes now. It's been about 18 days now, and I'm certain this will do the trick since both my brother and I can enjoy our nicotine addiction without all the other harmful crap that comes with smoking.

My aunt had one when they first came out but then they where so messy and had no flavors just regular ones. I smoked 1 1/2 packs a day and after trying the pills patches and other ways to attempt to quit. I researched other ways to stop and I seen there was so many options on e-cigs and it gave my a new view on them. I picked one up from the local gas station and been vaping since.

I was out with a bunch of friends on fine evening, and one of them was using an eGo-T. Her husband and I had been swapping cigars to try for over 20 years. So when I asked her "what the hell is that" she showed me how it worked. Next day I bought one. The following day I bought my last pack of cigarettes. Smoked 1/2 of one and said to myself "self, this thing stinks". Threw the rest of the pack away.

So now I'm sitting here typing away while dripping some buttered popcorn into a HH-357 that's on a SB with a Kick in it, looking over at my Mako with a Vision eGo, sitting next to a home made VV box mod with a carto tank, and with enough different flavors of juice here on my desk that I can't decide which to vape next.

One day while cleaning my pipe with an electronics screw driver (a tiring process I was getting sick of), a piece of the screw driver broke off inside the pipe. I didn't want to go back to Tobacco Depot after getting a rubbish tip from the owner on my food delivery ($1), so I decided to break free and try the electronics. I tried the disposables at first. Got a whopping ten minutes from each. This did not deter me. I purchased an overpriced kit of convenience store rechargeables. These could vape for 20 minutes before they needed a recharge. I was determined to find something better so I browsed the internet. I looked up where I could buy e-cigs locally and found out about the Big Top Flea Market. I went there and asked for the biggest battery e-cigs they carried. Got myself a KGO starter kit and 4 30 ml bottles of e-liquid for $80. So finally I knew what vaping was supposed to be like.

Having a smoke at work, and a coworker offered a puff off his generic ecig. That night, I began searching around on the google machine for more info, as I damn sure wasn't hitting the local mall kiosk. My search led me here. Today makes a week since I received my Volt starter kit. It is no coincidence that it's been a week since my last analog.

As I type, I am enjoying my lazy Saturday AM with a nice english toffee vape from my new Provari, and Depth Charge tank. Both are awesome, BTW. I'm hoping to give my jacket another spin in the washer this weekend. I washed it once, and it still reeks of disgusting analogs.

I had decided to quit. It would have been my third attempt, but this time I really had to do it. I already had a Chantix script phoned in to my pharmacy, but I was not very sure I wanted to take it. You see, I was going through an unpleasant period already, and felt down and I was truly afraid of Chantix' psychiatric side effects.

One day, get this: my mother called me to tell me that one of her friends, lifelong smoker, struggling with health issues, had managed to quit using an e-cigarette. I didn't care about that, but weeks later I saw disposables at Walgreens as I was buying cigarettes. I said, whatever, let's see what this can do. I pretty much hated the Blu, but I puffed it long enough to feel that it was indeed taking away the craving - had not opened the newly purchased pack while playing with it. That, for me, was "proof of concept" so I started looking for "better flavor".

Obviously, I googled and I stumbled upon the fake review sites that are all over the internet. That's how I ended up buying the super supreme mega ultimate kit from V2. A lot more spent than I needed to, in hindsight, but the day I got the V2s was the day I had my last cigarette.

I think it was pure luck, multiple unrelated events coinciding.

Several years ago I heard about them.... Started looking into them and ran into the (at the time) recent ban by HC. Swore a lot, let go of all the excitement I had about it.... And tried champix, which worked briefly but not long term. So started the analogs again..... Fast forward to this year, a couple people had one at work....no nic.... All that excitement came back....and this time when I did some research I found nicotine available here. Instantly bought one and I'm still doing a happy dance :) screw you HC I'll risk the unknown against the known and I'll make that decision for myself. I'm so grateful to those Canadian vendors who have made this possible for me.

    The short version:
I saw them at the mall about 4-5 years ago. I saw, tried and liked them. Unfortunately the devices were underpowered and battery life was not adequate. I came here 16 months ago and the progress in devices made it exceptionally easy to switch.

While I have a tendency to get worked up and somewhat "sharp" in threads that discuss banning and restricting vaping, my favorite areas are the New members Forum and Success Stories. They are very positive and the excitement in the messages of newcomers is always fun to read.

Co-worker was showing off his Ego-C out here in Afghanistan. I went out and bought the EGO-C. Since I recieved it no more analogs or cravings for that matter. Worked so well for me other people have tried it. No there are like 20 or so Soldiers out here fighting the fight analog free due to e-cigs. Gotta Love it.:vapor:
