How do you help them back up on the vape train?
My friend never put the stinkies fully behind him, but was down from 1&1\2 PAD to just 3 a day. Last night, he didn't even have his rig with him and just smoked. He has cheap gear that he pockets at work and has broken 3 eGo style batteries(1 T and 2 X6) in less than 3 months. I give him cards to good vendors because he says he wants to quit, but instead of going to a vape shop, he keeps going to the head shop and gets more flimsy gear. They told him X6 is a beast.

I don't know how to really help him at this point. I can't buy him a Provari (he LOVES mine), but maybe something smaller, MVP or istick? Is it worth it? Is it time to give up?

I'd say you have done alot in supporting him while he Vaped, but only he can get to the point where HE commits to one or the other. From what you have told us he is not ready yet and you should remember the adage "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink". Continue to support him if he shows interest but do not buy him anymore gear. He has to have some "Skin in the game" to make him serious about using something he has invested HIS money in! You Tried so you deserve praise for your concern and efforts. Just give it time! :2c:

It sounds almost like he's living with you?
if that's the case then buy yourself an mvp and if his batts aren't working he can use it.

Bit sad really, but like another poster has said you can only help some one so much. A lot of this is down to legislation by governments or lack of it as the case is. proper legislation would lead to a better experience for everyone. Cheap manufactured equipment would vanish over night. Cheap imitations copies would come down in vast amounts. But the real truth to all this is it will never happen as world leaders governments have too much to lose ie taxes etc.

The music industry should get more behind vaping, why not have vaping music festivals sponsored by the E Cig companies maybe even Kanger. More needs to be done in the world we live in, but i got a sad feeling it just won't happen.

My wife is still a smoker. I tried to convert her. I bought her an evod starter kit and she used it for about a month and then gave up. She's tried my gear... everything from a spinner, MVP, DNA 30, mechanical, clearo's, drippers, kayfuns, etc..... she's tried it all and she just isn't interested in vaping. Everybody is different. If she ever wants to give it a try again I have the gear but I'm not going out and buying her anything else just hoping that it'll work for her.

The eleaf istick is a fantastic choice for new vapers. It goes up to 20 watts so it will be a much better choice for beginners since they will be able to use it even when they get into rebuildables. Or even if they never do its a solid vape at a reasonable price.

Agreed, the istick is a great device from everything I've heard BUT, it's just a paper weight if it's not going to be used. :2c:

I tell people all the time I'm a recovering addict and you can only lead a horse to water, you can't make it drink. I'm not saying drugs and cigarettes are the same thing but the addiction to it is. For me when I quit doing drugs and cigarettes I had to want it for myself. Until then I kept doing what I was doing and I kept getting the same result. So your friend really has to want it from his heart to be able to really quit. I have a friend that sounds exactly the same. He has some cheap gear and he still smokes sometimes. He smokes every couple days which isn't bad to where he was. So all I did was tell him where to get some good gear like what I have. Now he knows where to get it and it's on him to act on it. He says he doesn't have any money yet he goes out to the bar every night and buys cases of beer. So there isn't anything else that I can do.

I don't know if that made any sense to anyone else but I hope it helps! :vapor:

The biggest reasons for falling off the horse, in no particular order, are:

1 - not having a good setup (mod, juice, etc...)
2 - frustration with use
3 - trying too hard to quit smoking
4 - convenience (forgot device, battery dead, etc...)
5 - getting into the smoking routine (being in spots where someone usually lights up, smoking rituals, etc...)

Don't ever try to get someone to quit cold turkey starting this - in my experience it usually backfires. I tell people to use it as a supplement, which in turns allows them to smoke less and feel less stressed about trying to quit. When the time is right, they will quit on their own. Putting pressure on someone to quit or try to vape usually has the opposite effect; it needs to be an experience that is both enjoyed and has a place in their routine.

All good points. I don't know that he wants to quit, like really wants to and I get that. I quit 3 times, all for people other then myself andI loved smoking. I don't want him to feel judged for continuing to smoke. I just don't want him to give up because of junk gear when there are good, durable options out there for a little more than he's been spending at the head shop on stuff he knows he's going to break again.

Out of 5 you actually left out cost!
or maybe #1 "good setup" accounts for that.
Still when cost is a major factor hardly anybody is going to spend on somebody else's idea of what constitutes a 'good setup' until they've crossed over the line with something much more affordable.
