How will devices evolve?

i talked about this in a "why are mods ugly" thread. but i wasn't in the position to ask how that would change. it's true, these devices are ridiculous. the nemesis i have with a castle clone is just RIDICULOUS! these devices are HUUUGE! the atomizer isnt that big, but these mods...oh man. we see how these products improve over time, from ss to brass to copper. from 3 posts to 5 to adjustable center pin to magnet switches etc. these are meaningful but small changes in these devices. IMO the atomizers we have are awesome but theyll def get better. to the point they are smaller, hold juice like a carto and hit like a dripper. the mods...this is where i CANNOT WAIT FOR EVOLUTION. were limited by our batteries. sony vtc5 is huge! i believe in the future hopefully near future we will have much smaller devices that last longer and perform even better. i think the first step (now that were making things out of the right materials like copper contacts) is to evolve the battery.

so how do you think devices will evolve? what do you think is the weak link holding back the RAPID PROGRESSION of vaping?

#1 is battery technology, which is completely out of the vaping industry's hands.

#2 is the fact that we are using heat to make liquid into vapor. This is not very efficient. The first ultrasonic PV will be a game-changer. My Master's thesis was on this topic as it applies to aqueous medication, so I know it is possible. Comments on the original Ruyan design include ultrasonic vibration as an atomization method, but for some reason that never went anywhere.

I don't see smaller. I see more features packed in to the same space.

Back in 2011, there was a failed mod called the Eclipse EQ. Those guys packed an 18650, VV, pass through, 8ml juice supply, and a programmable micropump in to a package not all that much larger than a REO Grand (half again as wide but about the same height).

I see something like that coming back to the market. I think programmable automatic feeders will be a reality because it has already been proven it can be done.

It does if it is optimized, which is the trick to making it small. For instance, ultrasonic humidifiers work fine but they are not optimized, so they are big and need quite a bit of power to operate. Handheld ultrasonic nebulizers are optimized, so they are small and run off AA batteries, but they are still pretty expensive and probably wouldn't work with PG/VG based e-liquid.

I agree about most mods looking ridiculous and I agree with the OP about them being much too large as well , electronic devices have become smaller and smaller and smaller yet due to batteries etc... vaping devices are cumbersome and relegated to home vaping duties most of the time .

It will be interesting to see what happens on the vape front but regulation can ruin innovation unfortunately .
