I have been thinking about adding another provari in the mix. I have the standard V2 now but I think I would like to have a mini for carrying around in my pocket. I was thinking about maybe a black one this time but curios to know how well the finishes hold up over the long term.

Your experiences and pics welcomed! :D

Bought my "satin" silver regular size ProVari in either February or march 2012...I'm HARD on mods (son calls me "Mom the mod Killer"), and it doesn't have even a scratch on the finish...bought my RED ProVari mini (a "ceramic" finish) in the spring of 2013...the ONLY marks on the finish are on the rolled edge of the extension cap...a few microscopic "divots" in the coating, from being dropped...but IF I ever decide to sell it (not likely) or when I finally get to go to the Big vape House in the Sky and will it to my son: all it will need to look 'good as new" is awe extension cap! I received my new mini Dragon yesterday...and provape had perfected their chrome finish...I am The Fingerprint Queen (it's a good thing I don't do anything illegal, because I leave fingerprints EVERYWHERE!!). And I am AMAZED at how RESISTANT the chrome finish is to my fingerprints!!! In my experience...you can't go wrong with ANY color ProVari....

The black WILL get chips and scratches.
For true long term, Satin may be the best finish - cuz you could refinish it pretty easily...

Satin all the way...Every Black one I owned developed small marks were you could see the Stainless below, and I am super carful with my mods-never dropped and carried in a felt bag when leaving the house...

4 year old satin finish. Still looks good. The edges of the extension cap are polished now from use, and it has a few scratches from being dropped on concrete. It only has one tiny divot in it, and that was there when I bought it. After the abuse I've put it through, I guess the divot came from being dropped and ran over at highway speeds.

I agree with this. The satin finish would IMHO be the most durable finish if you are hard on your mods. The new Zenkote would be another option (allegedly the surface is as hard as diamond).

I have a 1.5 year old satin blue V2.0 which got daily use in a pocket for several months, and was also laid on my lap while driving in the car. A few times it took a spill onto the parking lot while getting out of the car. It has a couple of tiny nicks (barely noticeable unless you are looking for them) on the body.

I got a satin black 2.0 Mini on my 1 year smokefree anniversary, now just over 1 year old. Since acquiring it, it has had almost exclusive use as my daily out-and-about mod. Same physical treatment, no nicks, but there is a slight wear-over-time of most of the carokote surface.

My two standard size Provari's now wear a wrap. I rather like the "battle worn" look of my satin black Mini....it adds character to its appearance as the workhorse that it has beem to me over time.

My almost 2 year old satin blue V2 is polished on the edge of the extension cap and has a number of small nicks and scratches, but is in much better shape than my 1+ year old satin Black Blem V2. The blemish was machine marks in the tube and the color has worn through on the high spots so it has much more SS showing. I also think the wear adds character, I wish some of my cheap mods had lasted long enough to show some use!
