The black WILL get chips and scratches.
For true long term, Satin may be the best finish - cuz you could refinish it pretty easily...
I agree with this. The satin finish would IMHO be the most durable finish if you are hard on your mods. The new Zenkote would be another option (allegedly the surface is as hard as diamond).
I have a 1.5 year old satin blue V2.0 which got daily use in a pocket for several months, and was also laid on my lap while driving in the car. A few times it took a spill onto the parking lot while getting out of the car. It has a couple of tiny nicks (barely noticeable unless you are looking for them) on the body.
I got a satin black 2.0 Mini on my 1 year smokefree anniversary, now just over 1 year old. Since acquiring it, it has had almost exclusive use as my daily out-and-about mod. Same physical treatment, no nicks, but there is a slight wear-over-time of most of the carokote surface.
My two standard size Provari's now wear a wrap. I rather like the "battle worn" look of my satin black Mini....it adds character to its appearance as the workhorse that it has beem to me over time.
