finally replaced my mucked up 510 threads on my mvp2 with THE FATDADDY 510 V4 - Low Profile 15.5MM ADAPTER

requirements are some soldering skills, be handy, t6 screwdriver and a tapered right hand metric m10x1 tap.
.
this was my first time using a tap, it was really easy as the hole is perfect size for the tap w/out predrilling and since
base is made out of aluminum the tap will thread it like butter and the fatdaddy 510 will just screw into top plate/base of the mvp2 so nut will not be needed. using a tap for the first time was easier than i thought it would be. google on how to use a tap to make new threads and/or soldering.

HINT: if u cant find the tap individually it might be in a set, if so buy the set from a retailer that has "easy returns", hint hint.

TURN OFF THE MVP2
REMOVE 4 TORX #6 SIZE SCREWS FROM THE TOP OF MVP2, 3 SCREWS SHOWN IN PIC

REMOVE PLASTIC PIECE
ONCE ALL 4 TOP TORX SCREWS AND BUTTON BEZEL ARE REMOVED START TO PRY UP
THE TOP ALUMINUM PLATE AND KEEP THE WHITE BUTTON PRESSED SO IT WILL CLEAR THE HOUSING

ONCE TOP IS OFF REMOVE THE 2 SMALL PHILLIPS SCREWS RETAINING THE BOARD TO THE TOP HOUSING.
PLASTIC SURROUNDING BUTTON WILL FALL OUT IF NOT REMOVED

DE-SOLDER THE WHITE AND GREY WIRES FROM 510/EGO ADAPTER
WHITE WIRE IS ALREADY DE-SOLDERED IN PIC

mvp2_fix73.jpg

TOP IS NOW FREE FROM THE MAIN BODY.
NOW PRY OUT WHITE PLASTIC SEAL AND CENTER PIN.
DRILL OUT THE RIVET

mvp2_fix81.jpg

WITH RIVET REMOVED USE A HAMMER AND PUNCH OR SIMILAR TOOL TO REMOVE THE 510/EGO ADAPTER
MIGHT NEED A VISE TO HOLD BASE, I DIDNT

THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE NOW
mvp2_fix11.jpg

mvp2_fix20.jpg

USE A RIGHT HAND M10X1 METRIC TAP TO THREAD FROM THE TOP
NO NEED TO PREDRILL AS HOLE IS PERFECT SIZE FOR TAP

mvp2_fix122.jpg

THE FATDADDY 510 V4 - Low Profile 15.5MM ADAPTER.
WASHER AND NUT ARE NOT NEEDED

mvp2_fix13.jpg

SECURELY SCREW THE NEW 510 INTO TOP OF THE MVP2 INTO THE NEWLY TAPPED THREADS.
CAN USE LOCTITE ON THREADS IF YOU PREFER, I DIDNT.
SOLDER GRAY WIRE INTO HOLE IN CENTER PIN.
SOLDER WHITE WIRE TO BASE
I USED A WIRE BRUSH ON DREMMEL TO CLEAN/ROUGH UP BASE
TO PRE-SOLDER B4 SOLDERING WHITE WIRE TO THE BASE.
REASSEMBLE

Off-topic a bit...

MVP20W opens up the same if someone wants to swap out the included 510 or make a repair.

If you want to get all of the guts out... I found it easiest to also remove the reflective cover at the display/buttons... then once you unscrew the charging/USB output board, you can pull all of the guts out through the top.

In-case anyone reading this thread wants to see the insides of the MVP20W... teardown pics here

Oh yeah... and BUMP
