And i apparently am restricted to posting here for the time being.

I've been vaping just over a wee, finding it a bit hit and miss right now. Tried a medium strength (12-18mg), but finding it too weak, so have got some 20-26mg on the way. I have an almond flavour, but it still has a strong tobacco under taste, which I'm not loving too much.

Cleethorpes in England, yep, that's me. I'm really looking forward to making some yummy flavours of my own, but a little bit scared >.< I have some cappuccino on the way, as well as a B&H flavour. I'd love to have some flavours that totally taste not like tobacco at all. In general I'm taking to vaping quite well. I had some initial issues, which were resolved by making sure my cart was lined up with the mesh in the atomiser. I keep switching between the pre-filled carts I got with my kit, and an almond sample I got. I've had 3 analogs today, I never smoked loads anyway, I just like the smoke/vapour really. I smoked rollies, probably about 20 a day, but mostly shared these with my girlfriend. She's not taking to vaping so well, that's the B&H for her, she likes the taste. We'll keep with it though. Healthier, not so much cheaper for us right now, buying the kits etc There's so much new stuff to learn, new habits to learn. Cleaning carts, atomisers (which I haven't done, I'm scared I'll break them) charging batteries.

Hi evan, yeh it does cost a bit to start of but you can do it on a budget. There's some great UK sellers but there is one at the moment with a great sale Electronic Cigarettes / Electronic Cigarette Company Mixings fun but do read up on it first so you vape safe DIY e-liquid once you've gotten the basics down you'll be fine.Cleethorpes never been there ;-) ps,i never clean an attie.

Evanesco, it's unlikely you are doing anything wrong to cause this problem, but let's go over a few things just in case.

1) The cartridge or cartomizer you are using... did it come pre-filled or empty?
2) The atomizer you are using... did you previously use it with a tobacco-flavored cart?
3) Precisely what juice and from what vendor? What strength? What PG/VG ratio?

Questions 1 and 2 are because it's possible to accidentally mix flavors and contaminate your taste experience, question 3 is to see if anyone else has had problems with that flavor/vendor.

Also, I want to make sure you are using reasonable strengths of nicotine... for most people 24mg/ml is pretty strong, although some go a little higher. But some vendors sell stronger juice, I've seen it at 48mg/ml and higher, and that is for mixing, not vaping directly. If you try to vape the strong stuff you will get a distinctive nicotine flavor. I know in your first post you mentioned 12-18mg/ml, and that's certainly within an acceptable range, but I just wanted to mention this.

Finally, if you are running a higher-voltage e-cig you might consider stepping that down to avoid any kind of burnt taste... you want to try your juices at 3.7volts (standard 510 e-cig voltage) to see if they taste better that way.

I'm really frustrated on your behalf, because this problem is totally not what I've experienced myself. You might consider contacting the juice vendor and asking them about it; they might have an idea.

Thanks scratch,

1) The cartridge or cartomizer you are using... did it come pre-filled or empty?

It came pre-filled, however I have rinsed it out and used fresh filling, currently this is fish tank foam, the fine variety that looks very similar to the original filling. This it here

2) The atomizer you are using... did you previously use it with a tobacco-flavored cart?

Using a 510, it was previously used firstly with the pre-flled carts that come in the starter kit (max 18mg, all tobacco flavouring), then almond. I'm now trying cappuccino.

3) Precisely what juice and from what vendor? What strength? What PG/VG ratio?

This is the cappuccino juice from James at Paradise Vape UK. Strength is high (20-26mg). Not sure about the PG/VG ratio, this is the VG version from the site.

I know my carts are inserted properly, since I had some inital issues regarding putting them in not aligned, but that's resolved.

Hmmm I wonder if the foam could be to blame. I don't stuff my own carts so I don't know much about the various fillers people use; was this type of foam recommended to you by other vapers? I wonder if it could be burning up or melting or something. Any sign of that?

It's possible that your tobacco flavor is stuck to the atomizer and will reduce over time. I know I have to use a special dedicated atomizer for my clove flavor because it is so strong that any flavor I try on the same atomizer after that just tastes like clove. If this is your problem there are three solutions: Wash the atomizer (I've had limited success with this myself and have killed a few atties), vape a bunch more until the bad flavor goes away, or get a new never-been-used atomizer and try that.

Hi new too (Evanesco) and welcome to ECF. It's always nice to see new members. Now all you need is 5 posts and you can post almost anywhere. Great to meet you.

Thank you for the welcome. Seems I can't post on the UK forum section at the minute, but no matter, there are plenty of other interesting places to go before then anyway.
