I just noticed that this will be my one hundredth post on ECF, so I thought I would do a little update on my progress since I started vaping. So if you need a break from making potato salad or just came in from watching a parade and want something to read, here is my offering (although if you are reading this in the bathroom on your phone or tablet as some have shared on here, I don't really need to know).
I vaped for the first time on April 27th, a cheap stick cigarette I saw in a smoke shop when I was selling my kidney to buy a carton of stinkies. I only bought it because I was going to go on a road trip the next day to a place where I knew I wouldn't be able to smoke and I thought it might get me through the day. The e-cig was offered in flavors like vanilla or blueberry, but being clueless and thinking, "Why would anyone want to smoke blueberry tobacco?" I chose the plain tobacco flavored one. It was pretty gross, but using it in the ladies' room got me through the trip and I was intrigued by the possibilities.
I started researching e-cigs (but not enough naturally) and ordered a stick starter kit with pre filled carts (tobacco naturally) and some empty carts (and of course tobacco juice to fill them) and the company sent me a bottle of vanilla juice as a sample. The tobacco carts were bearable and I used the stick a lot for a couple of days, cutting back on my analogs without thinking about it very much. I grew daring and decided to try the vanilla juice in an empty cart. That was my worst day of vaping. Something about the vanilla juice made me feel very sick. The flavor coated my mouth and I felt like I was going to throw up for hours. It was enough to make me consider giving up vaping altogether. But, luckily, by then I'd found ECF and had already ordered an eGo C kit and some other flavors. When the mailman finally delivered the package, I filled a cart with Swedish Fish juice (the best candy ever invented!) and I was a goner. That was on May 3rd. I tried one more analog on May 4th and haven't had one since. (Yay me!) Since then, I've discovered that most vanillas are wonderful, just not, not, not the one from that company.
I've since moved to an eGo C twist and I've tried Stardusts and Fluxes and Boges and tankomizers. I bought a Joye 510 T with the 340 mah battery which I use a lot when I just want something small to stick in my pocket while running around. I drip to test new flavors. I've ordered juice from a variety of vendors and my favorites are Kick Bass Vapors, EC Blends, Mrs. T's, and Copper Creek. I still haven't found my all-day vape, but I'm having fun searching for it. I've only found a couple of flavors that I absolutely hate and I'm letting them steep longer to see if they improve with age the way I have (or so my hubby tells me when he wants to go golfing with his friends).
I've bought storage bins and labels and baggies and markers to keep it all organized and I've even started making my own juices to try to find that perfect blend. I love to cook and create recipes, so I figured why not do it with juices. My toughest time is first thing in the morning with my coffee and I haven't been able to find a juice that satisfies me for that all important first-of-the-day vape yet, but the ones I have are good enough to keep me from lighting a stinky. As soon as I get my eggs, cheese, and sausage on a croissant breakfast sandwich juice perfected, I'll be sure to share it with the rest of you.
My hair, breath and clothes no longer stink. My home office, which used to smell like a big old ashtray now smells like vanilla and caramel. I've lost weight because I'm inhaling juice instead of inhaling actual snacks. I have a lot more energy and I'm getting so much more done, partly because of the energy and partly because I no longer have to stop what I'm doing to have a smoke because I can just pull my 510 T out of my pocket and take a drag whenever I want. I no longer feel panicky about conferences, family vacations, long car rides, etc. because I know I won't have to worry about finding a time and place to smoke. Rebellious old broad that I am, I enjoy having a vape in the places that always made me feel like a pariah when I was a smoker, not because I need one, but because it makes me feel naughty.
While I was ordering stuff like crazy for awhile, I now have enough to get me through for a long time and I'm happy with the setup I have, so my ordering has slowed down to a manageable level.
I have juices from 18 mg nic all the way to 0 mg. I usually use the 18 in the morning and then switch to 12 for most of the day. In the evenings, when I am vaping more frequently as I watch TV or write, I usually use the 6 so I don't get a headache. I use the 0 mg. flavorless to dilute and in between flavors when I drip. I'm thinking of making up some 0 mg juice with my favorite flavors for the times when I'm just vaping for a taste of something sweet and not for nic.
I can't really think of any negatives to share except for the fact that getting set up and organized has eaten up a lot of my time. But now that I have the twist and I know that I like Stardusts, I have a bunch already filled and I just grab one, screw it on and I'm good to go. When I have some spare time, I mix up some juices, but since I'm not making massive quantities, that doesn't even take very long.
I have gone without smoking an analog for twenty-five days and it hasn't even been painful. I actually had to count the days to see how long it's been compared to the other times I've quit when I knew exactly how many days, hours, minutes, seconds it had been since my last one. A couple of times, I've had a brief unsatisfied feeling with my morning coffee, but I've never thought about reaching for the pack of stinkies I still have in the drawer, I just try a different juice or voltage and vape until the feeling goes away.
I write novels for a living, so believe it or not, this endless post is the Reader's Digest Condensed Version of what I actually want to say. No one has ever accused me of being a woman of few words.
And just for the record, I am still blown away every time by how good the Swedish Fish juice tastes (Fish juice doesn't sound very tasty, does it? But it is sooo good.)
A blessed Memorial Day to all of you, especially our veterans, active military members, and the families of those lost in service to our country.
