Hunger?

Hi everyone,

I know that this isn't a health line, but I didn't know where else to take this question :) I quit smoking tobacco a couple of weeks ago and have been vaping about 2 - 3 ml of 18 mg juice a day since then. The thing is that I find myself almost always hungry! I thought that it was nicotine that suppressed your appetite and that vaping should help. But about an hour or two after a really heavy meal I find myself craving food. Especially the sweet stuff. Anyone else here face this problem after getting off tobacco?

Note: I've quite cold-turkey before and my appetite HAS gone up during those times, just not this bad. Also, shouldn't vaping help?

Thanks for your views and advice!

Find some sweet dessert or fruit flavors that you enjoy! I usually have a good strong 18mg tobacco vape right after eating to satisfy the primal urge, and when I get peckish afterward I reach for the sweet 6-12mg juices and go to town. I've still put on a few pounds, but I think that's mainly from my metabolism slowing down. With the right sweet juice, it's not too hard to fool my brain into thinking we just had dessert.

Long story short, nicotine actually stimulates your GI system - in other words, it will make you hungry and eat more than you normally would. I'm not talking about excessive changes, so don't get scared or anything like that. But usually people tend to eat more than normal, that's all.

This doesn't happen to everyone, however, because it's really based on your tolerance for nicotine and depends on how much you vape and what nicotine dosage you're at. Lots of factors come into play, but the simple answer is yes - you'll be hungry.

I've certainly noticed a difference in my eating habits and have been eating somewhat more than I did before I started this. My sweet cravings have gone through the roof, and now I seem to crave the sweet stuff. I started drinking a lot more soda, and less coffee, but I've always put a lot of sugar in my coffee too. Vaping does seem to satisfy the sweet cravings for the most part, since I vape sweet juices, and the sweeter they are, the better I like them. Weight gain has never been a problem for me (thankfully), I only weigh about 140 and I have a very high metabolism or whatever you'd call it, so none of this causes me any real concern. I've been spending a lot of time sitting at the computer vaping sweets, and drinking cherry coke at the same time, they seem to compliment each other very well! But what I used to do is sit at the computer, drink coffee, and smoke! So it's been a good trade! The room smells a lot better too!

I'm no doctor, but when I quit smoking I also started to eat more than I used to. That is primarily an effect of quitting smoking. However, I have found that having some sweet deserty type of vapes will satisfy cravings for sweets (because honestly if you're hungry and eating regular nutritious food it probably isn't that big of a deal anyway--but eating junk food is bad) and a few of the alcoholic drink type vapes (Like say Voodoo Cola from Hooligan Vapes--tastes to me like Rum and Coke which is my favorite cocktail) has caused me to taper down on my sweets and alcohol intake.

Thanks for the inputs everyone :) Good to know that this is "normal". I used to be quite a light eater in my tobacco smoking days. I've been eating a ton of fruits to avoid weight gain and satisfy my craving for sweet stuff. I wasn't vaping anything sweet, but I just got 11 assorted flavors from MBV, almost all of them sweet and fruity, some with menthol and touches of other exotic flavors thrown in! Waiting for them to steep now.

Threads here seem to suggest steeping for a week or so. Any specific advice for fruity + menthol/minty flavors from MBV?

Thanks again!

I 100% agree about the relentless appetite, I didn't stop stopped eating when I started vaping - until I got some WTA juice which sorted this right out.

Strangely I was craving cheese, red wine, marmite - none of which i particularly like! I think in hindsight my body was craving the MAOIs in these foods, as since starting the WTA (just a theory, I'm certainly not an expert).
