I have a question for those of you who've been vaping for a longer period and have husbands/wives/whatever that aren't vapers. Do they smell the "odor" of vaping when you're not actually vaping? My husband is reluctant to me vaping in the house, because he's afraid the whole place will smell of my sweet liquid after a while. So, what do your better half say?

Sounds like an excuse to me - he is worried about the vapor but cannot express that truthfully, using the aroma as an excuse. You need to find health-related resources to show him such as those at CASAA.

Most e-cigarette users are happy to vape in the same room as their children when they would never smoke inside - this should point you toward how they feel about the health implications. They would probably say it's equivalent to boiling a kettle and then also having a steaming cup of coffee or two in the room.

We don't actually know the heath implications but logic says there is probably more risk in painting the room or bringing in new furniture (glue and new synthetic materials outgassing) as the fumes would be likely to be more injurious.

I have one juice that my daughter says smells like maple syrup and that's vermillionriverejuice's caramelized cappuccino. She can smell it clear on the other side of the house but my house isn't huge. Other than that one..Mr-E-Liquids cognac fire...she wants to turn it into an air freshener. Hubby has not said one word about any of my juices to this date...he now vapes instead of chewing..that may be the reason.

It's not about the health issues, this I'm sure of. If he had a problem with that, he'd tell me.

Do a search because there are long threads about this subject of vaping indoors. It doesn't really linger like cigarette smoke, but it is flavor and how much VG dependent on how long it hangs around. With any kind of ventilation it disappears pretty fast.

I did do a search but I couldn't come up with a good enough search-string to find what I was looking for.

I might be the poster child for vaping sweet flavours with high vg content. I vape almost exclusively very sweet flavours and use no pg at all. When I vape, I vape a lot and completely fill my livingroom with vapour to the point it's actually a little hazy in here. I have been doing the same, filling the room with fog, for at least half a year now.

I haven't noticed any lingering smells on furnature, on my person, or even entering the room the next morning. My partner hasn't noticed any lingering smell either and only comments to say they like the smell when I'm vaping, and doesn't mind the haze luckily.

When I read the title I thought it was going to be a thread about how vaping disguises husband's odour haha

..... Hubby seems most worried that the smell will cling to fabrics and whatnot so it will smell "syrupy" all the time. He's not overly fond on sweet smells.

It shouldn't be a problem as pretty much everything is water soluble. Wax something close to where you're vaping, call husband unit over and ask him what he smells.

edit: Fabreze for the fabrics should work.

I vape sweet flavors with a high vg.. 75vg/25pg and yes I can fill a room, and I will continue to do so. Always crack a window when driving so I can see. But nothing smells super sticky sweet, until I open my box of flavors/joose. I DIY, then I will have a lingering sweet smell. Its all I can smell. But I have a tackle box filled with supplies. 75+ flavors. And that's the only I have a lingering smell. I just open a window to clear it out, it doesn't stay long. nor is it on my clothes/person. Unless I'm wearing it lol. But to just vape it, no lingering.

My bride and I took a 1,200 mile trip recently. I vaped ALL da way with the windows up and AC on. No issues at all. She could tell the flav. But when we stopped and exited/re-entered the SUV the aroma was gone. So it is very short lived.

I thought this thread might be a rehash of the recent 'out gassing' thread!

ETA: I vape fruit and vanilla flavs.

You could always try a small personal air purifier, maybe that would dissipate any lingering odors. I've read on other threads that some tobacco flavors have bothered others. I vape mostly fruit flavors and my non-smoking children let me vape in their house and car, and believe me, that says a lot!

I have vaped in my house non stop for 11 months. Never had one issue with clinging to anything. Regular smokes certainly will turn your walls colors after awhile.

Good luck

Thank you all for your input. Hubby seems most worried that the smell will cling to fabrics and whatnot so it will smell "syrupy" all the time. He's not overly fond on sweet smells.

The vapor odor doesn't linger or "cling" at all. People around me don't even notice it unless it's a particular strong flavor like Caramel Macchiatto or Cinnamon Danish Swirl and even then it's only fleeting. Just to play it safe, I would advise storing your juice bottles in an air tight container or ZipLok bag. The trace amounts of juice that collect in the caps or trickle down from the tips can give off a slight persistent odor. I keep mine inside a lock box, in the top dresser drawer, far out of my toddler's reach. An Added Bonus: My sock drawer smells delicious!

My wife smells the vapor, and for the most part it really doesn't bother her at all. They only time she says something is when I smoke cigar flavors and it smells like a sweet-ish cigar. If she isnt in the room when I am actively vaping she cant tell that I have vaped in the room because it goes away so quickly. Plus I always have a candle lit in the room, and that smell over powers any smell from vaping. Actually, she is just happy that I do not smell like analogs any more and I dont taste like an ash trey when I kiss her.
