Ok another long and possibly pointless post. I am almost afraid to ask it....

Ok, I love my 510! 30+ days vaping and cant live without it.
I think I will go postal if the FDA bans or overly regulates this stuff.

I just want a bigger unit. (When I say this, my wife tells me to "buy some Extense or those Smiling Bob pills...")

I dont know why I want a bigger one. (other than battery life would be a minor advantage) Please tell me why I do, if I am happy with my 510.

I am looking at The Prodigy, Silver Bullet, Chuck, Super-T, Screwdriver, and a few illegal/immoral/embarrasing/marital-aid looking things.

The switches on the end of some of them look awkward. - are they?

A mod will cost me anywhere from $100-$200 by the time I am happy. Twice that ($200-400), 'cause my wife will want a setup too. Thats a buttload of 510 stuff and juice.

Tell me why I would spend $200+ bucks to still drip or top off my cart frequently. (which isnt a problem for me)

I mean, I spend 70% my time vaping on a modified (5v) passthrough hooked to a portable 5v source or USB now. I only use oem type batteries when out of house or car. Being a social misfit/hermit these times are very rare.

I guess I am asking - Is it worth it to me, happy with my (basically 5v) 510 (and PT/batteries) to have a $+100 vaping investment that I probably will not treat nicely.

I mean, am I getting cig envy? Is it like seeing the 65" plasma in the store, getting it home and realizing you are just looking at the same episode of House, M.D. that you saw on your 36" only larger?

I know that batteries will be cheaper in the long run.

I really want one, but dont want to throw away $200+, not use it, and sell it at a loss to someone here, even though I like all of you!

To be quite honest with you, if I had had any sense and ordered the nice high-voltage passthrough for the 510 instead of the one I have, I probably would have made it much, much longer without feeling the need for another device. However, since I did indeed end up with the awful passthrough with the in-line battery, I "had" to get a Prodigy. Lucky for me, though, my significant other hasn't converted to e-cigs yet so I only had to get 1. With all that said, though, I can say that several months ago when I was using a 4081 with a passthrough, even though I loved the power, I got really tired of being tethered to a cord, even though I'm basically at the computer most of the day. To make a long story short, you might as well just go ahead and start making plans for a purchase because I know you're gonna end up making one eventually. :)

As most everyone knows by now, I bought a Chuck. I use the 18650 battery, and it lasts me two days. Another bonus is that it actually runs at around 4.2v, and the 510 atty really shines there, it feels like I am vaping at 5v. If I want, I can put two RCR123A batteries in it, and vape at 6v+.

Plus, it just looks awesome.

I'll let others expound the virtues of the other mods, since I don't have them.

okay one thing is clear.. normal e cig batteries are not up to all day and every day use..batteries that fit in cigarette size tubes are not big enough for anything other than light occasional use..

alternative power sources..

power cables that connect to the mains.. ether via a computer or a simple 4 volt transformer.. the down side.. wire tethers and you need to be indoors near a power supply.. best suited to those who spend hours sat near a convenient power source... the most common one being a PC..

power cables connected to you car ciggy lighter.. okay when driving.. lots of driving lots of "okay"

power cables connected to a bigger battery.. more portable than power cables connect to the mains but they still have wires and need to be carried..

bigger battery "mods".. these come in many sizes.. and need to use cheap generic atomizers and consumables..

the janty stick this is can be considered a bigger battery mod.. a 300 mah or close battery capacity.. a single cell giving 4.2 volts fresh off the charger.. ones in good condition will do the job required.. a run time of say three to four hours hours for a heavy user..

a prodigy or big chuck.. 18650 battery.. single cell 4.2 volts fresh off the charger.. the device will be much bigger and heavier than the janty stick.. if size dosnt matter well perhaps they are the way to go... the batteries are around twenty times bigger than a normal e cig battery..

is more than 4.2 volts needed.. we dont think so (purely our opinon here) providing the 4.2 volts is delivered correctly to the heater coil in the atomizer.. normal e cig batteries being so small never do this..

more than one cell higher voltage devices.. the main downside is mainly a drop in run time from a similar sized single cell device.. they will work better with cooler running atomizers just like the single cell devices will work better with hotter running atomizers... they add complications and if not wisely used will over volt the atomizer with up to 8.4 volts.. two cells in series unless special cells are used will give out 8.4 volts when fresh off the charger..

so we have the janty stick at 300 mah 4.2 volts up to a prodigy or big chuck (there are others) at 2500 mah at 4.2 volts.. it come down to style and size.. they should all work better than a normal e cig simply because they have a higher capacity battery.. they should all in th long term cost less to run.. and they are portable and dont need wires..

there are in between battery sizes.. in simple terms the bigger the battery the longer the run time but the bigger and heavier the device becomes.. a bigger battery than the 18650 could be used but how big is too big.. that one is down to the user..

e cigs really are simple things.. an atomizer and a power source.. its a shame an adequate power source cant be bunged into a cigarette sized tube.. but it cant..

I have many mods but my favorite is the Chuck.

I love 6 volts.. I love 3.7 volts. I can do both with this.

Id say to you if you like the 510 stay with it.
The battery life is bad with a 510. I dont like jockying batteries all day long.

You dont have to spend 200.00 on a mod.

The Chuck is 75.00 plus 5.00 shipping.

Switch gives no problems and takes batteries you can get if a ban occurs.
Plus it looks awesome and is the best built mod I have purchased to date.
Made from Brass and Copper. Quality I havent seen anywhere else.

There are other good mods out there, but too expensive for my liking.

So if you're happy save your $$ and vape on your 510. No need to spend money if you dont have to!

doots made some very good points! If there's a ban, unless you've got lots of 510 batteries and atomizers stocked up, you may be in trouble. And those batteries will cost you about 6 times as much as the bigger mod batts, which you can get anywhere, but not so with the 510 batts.

I believe an investment of $150.00 now will save you lots of money later, trying to replace the more expensive 510 parts. There's no part of the 510 that doesn't need replacing sooner or later. Not so with the bigger mods, and bigger mod batts are about $2 apiece. This is not to even mention how much longer the bigger mods last between batt charges and how much great vapor and throat hit they produce, if desired.

I love my little copper 510, but really love my Janty Stick, and just ordered a Super-T.

I love the 510 but hated the battery life. I bought a silver bullet, now I can go all day without a battery change. I also like being able to change from 3.7v to 6v when having a few beers, the extra oomph of the 6v hits the spot sometimes. And since the silver bullet is a native 510 device, I already had tons of atomizers for it and did not require an adapter.

I also believe that any big battery mod is very worth it, the small 510 batts really go downhill after a couple months and you would have to keep buying more, that money is better invested in a nice mod, plenty to chose from. I think I'd like to get a all black little chuck for the times stealth is required as my silver bullet kinda stands out (but I love it).

Thanks Trog! I appreciate your candor, and Its nice to see a manufacturer be honest that their product isnt rocket science!

Ok - I am convinced. The battery thing did it. I just had a 510batt decide to go south.

And I am going to buy... (drum roll) {suspense builds}

{do you feel it?}

Im not tellin' till it gets here! (snicker)

Unless someone can tell me how natural (or not) it is with the end button thing you can guess that it will be one with a button on top/side.
