I'm searching around trying to get my first rda (I'm recoiling Davide already so why shouldn't I make my life easier)... and I stumbled on EHpro's Valkyrie clone. I love the look of Valkyrie and I had a harmless flirt with it for a while as the original would seriously damage my budget. With this one, I have to consider it so there is a ton of questions for you guys. :D

1) Why are people using mech mods over VV's? Truth to be told, I'm running the default 3.5V most of the time, but somehow having that control possible feels good. Also, does it trouble you that cig behaves differently as the battery runs out?

2) Mech mod safety... should I consider using some of those fuse things so the bloody thing don't explode in my face?

3) As the atomizer is integrated with the rest of the cig... how on earth one is supposed to put the thing on the ohmmeter and see if the thing is working and what's the resistance?

4) Last but not the least... Any experiences with this clone? Is it any good?

I have this clone.
It's awesome.
However it has some of the same issues as the original (30 second fix)

Hybrid mech mods are intermediate devices meant for Vapers with some rudementary knowledge about vapes.

You will need basic experience or knowledge to build coils that have the right resistance.
4 wraps of twisted 30 g (dual coils) should give me .47 or so.

I use Sony VTC 4 batteries an I stay within their limits.

The Valkyrie has issues with the button getting hot and misfiring.
This is an easy fix.
Disassemble the switch and remove the lower Delrin piece.
Re assemble.
Bam. Now it works flawlessly.
Same technique fixes the original one too.

I LOVE mine.

If you are just getting into RDAs I wouldn't recommend a hybrid mod, technically you can ohm it out with a multimeter but as a beginner I would recommend getting a standard mech mod and atomizer that you can slap on an ohm meter, and also learning the basic knowledge of ohms law and battery safety. But that's just my opinion. The Valkyrie is pretty sweet though I would love to own one some day.

you can also have the best of both worlds, VW & Mec combined.....get a nice Mec a Kick & a RDA.....you can use Variable Wattage with a Kick when you choose and have the option to take the Kick out and after learning about making/using low ohm coils and having the proper batteries (Sony VTC5 18650 30 Amp) & a Multimeter you can also Sub-Ohm with the same device.

Using a kick with an RDA will have limitations.
You need to build coils above 1.3 ohms or a kick won't fire.
(1.5 ohms with some clone kicks).
Either way you'll need to learn about resistance/coils/safety/battery limits.

Kicks aren't used for protection as much as for consistent power throughout the vape session.

I did. You either missed my point, or I missed yours.
:D
You suggested a kick as a crutch to use until one "learns about makings w ohm coils", and I was explaining that kicks are usually not used for that purpose, but for giving a consistent vape by regulating the power. A kick does add protection, but limits the vape as a trade off.
Either way I'd research ohms law, and battery limits/safety first and when comfortable, jump in.
I just wanted to point out the limits of a kick.

A 2cent fuse might be a better way to go with an RDA for safety.

once again i NEVER said to use a Kick with an RDA, no do not do this...

use a kick with a tank or Carto's....take the Kick out and put in the proper batteries and use an RDA after learning to make coils......my suggestion was to use a Mec Mod for both different operations, sorta killing two birds w/one stone.....maybe i should have been more clear when i first posted.

Moot point in this thread.
Kick no fit in Valkyrie.
;)
Valkyrie is a hybrid rebuildable dripper

yep it's Moot alright....have a good one

You are replying to a thread titled "hybrid" mech mods( Valkyrie).

I felt you were giving inaccurate advice based on the topic of the thread.
Wait .....you Don't even know what it is?
I rest my case.

All drama aside....

I just got the ehpro valkyrie, and it's a great mod. Fairly easy to build (small chamber, not much room to work), option for single or dual coil, air flow control, adjustment for different length batteries.....hits like a train with dual coils.

Down side...very small almost non existent juice well. So you can't put a lot of drops in it, and it goes through liquid pretty quick. The button does have issues with misfiring, but a little dab of naolox between the contacts (have to take the button apart) seems to have fixed that issue. There are plenty of vids on YouTube showing how to fix it.

I bought this because it looks nice and I don't have to worry about a leaking tank or large mod at work. I bough a ucan dripper bottle to go with it. Mod in a belt case (old flashlight case), ucan on my lanyard for my badge....good to go all day at work. About 10 drops during my smoke break, gets me by for several drags and produces thick clouds.

That said, I started using rebuildables from the very first genisis that was made in a coop. That was almost 4 years ago. Materials have changed, techniques have changed, and mods and batteries have REALLY changed. Do the research, learn as much as you can about coils and batteries, and practice makes perfect when you find a set up that gives you what you want.

Hope this is more what you were looking for when you posted this...

One more thing...

If you are planning sub ohm set ups, definitely get the higher amp rated batteries....As mentioned a few posts back. I generally stay around 1ohm, even with my dual coils. So I bought 30 amp batteries just to be on the safe side. Mine are effest 2100mah 30 amp 18650.

Would you be able to provide a picture of the lower Delrin piece that you removed? I tried removing one of the pieces, but the valk just non-stop fired. I'm guessing that wasn't the piece I was suppose to remove...:( I've tried other methods such as sanding down and using vasaline, but I still end up with the same issues. I have the EH pro valk clone.

I'll post a pic when I get home tomorrow.
It's the lower piece. Not the one with the brass contact. The other one.
