I had seen so many different discriptions of the flavor of Hypnotic Mist that I finally ordered 10ml from "another vendor" to see for myself. To me it's kind of citrusy sometimes and a bit flowery other times. I generally don't care for either one of those tastes, but whatever the flavor is I LIKE IT. It also seems to boost the taste of other juices without overwhelming them. I discovered that characteristic when I was dripping HM and then switched to another flavor without changing attys. It's a very unique vape.

I'm not big on citrus-type vapes... but that may be because I ordered "mojito" from another vendor, that tasted like... blech. (cuban highball, if you've never heard of it. My fave drink!) Tasted like watered down 7-up. I might give this one a go, though.

You have outstanding taste in drinks, ma'am!

So this probably isn't the place for it, but my extended family is mostly from Cuba originally and I've been making mojitos using their recipe since I was a kid- no syrups, all fresh stuff. You probably already have an awesome recipe for it, but I thought I'd share mine if you ever want to try something new!

This recipe is for a batch of 'em, by the way- so make it in a punch bowl!

6 limes and 4 lemons of equal size- squeeze all the juice out of them (helps if you have a juicer) and let the pulp get in to the mix but make sure to avoid having any seeds get in. juice/pulp goes in to the bowl.

a cup or more of pure cane sugar (can be to taste, of course)

remove the leaves from about 7 stems worth of mint (again, can be adjusted to taste) and put in bowl with the fruit juice.

about a half liter of light rum (additives in dark rum can ruin the drink), pour on top of the sugar/mint/fruit juice

about 2 liters of San Pelligrino sparkling water- this is important, as many people use club soda for mojitos, which lends a bit more of a "flat" taste. Sparkling water (perrier is fine if you can't find San Pel) makes a huge difference, pour on top of everything.

Muddle the mint that is in the bowl (i.e. crush it up with a flat-surfaced tool, making sure to crush the leaves against the bottom/sides of the bowl to release the juices- you'd be amazed how many people don't know what "muddle" means). It's important not to muddle until all of the ingredients are in the mix, as the sparkling water's bubbling helps the mint juices release and mingle with the other ingredients.

Stir it up and garnish each glass with a sprig of mint and maybe a lime if desired.

It's a bit labor-intensive, but it's also amazing! If you have a good recipe that you'd like to share, I'd love to hear it!

That sounds a decent Mojito, the first bit I found interesting with the pulp and limes/lemons and the end bit of putting the ingredients together before crushing the mint. I went to Cuba a few years back and was surprised how many poor mojito's I tried. The best one I had was in a club when I was least expecting it, for such a simple drink there sure does seem to be a right and wrong way.

Dark rum is a great drink. When I drink it is usually cognac, whilst dark rum obviously isn't the same I was surprised how many characteristics it shared. Needless to say, I really enjoyed what little I had of it.

I feel ya, Abe. Yeah, I've known Cubans who can't make a decent mojito to save their lives. Of course, I was a bartender all through my undergrad, and I've known plenty of bartenders here in the States that could somehow screw up simple drinks, too. I think it's probably because every random person with a cocktail book and a shaker thinks they can tend a bar, and it just isn't that simple.

I do love some dark rum, too- but I mainly find that dark rum is best for dark drinks or for sipping when served on its own, over ice...but for lighter drinks, whatever it is they use to color the rum just gives a funny taste. (I may be alone on this one, I have weird tastes. I'm the same way with tequila.)

Sounds delish, KR! I have a hard time finding a good mojito, here. Most places serve them too sugary, and I like it on the "not so sweet" side. Definitely gonna save your recipe in a text file for when the weather warms up! You're not alone on the rum thing. I'm not a dark rum drinker. Can't imagine it would taste very good in a mojito.

I was very surprised to find the best mojito I'd ever had at a PF Chang's! Bartender knew what he was doing! Also had a good one at a club in Chile, but STRONG. Two drinks nearly knocked me on the floor, and my ex-boyfriend, too!

Oh, and War Eagle (I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry... couldn't resist. I went to Auburn!)

That's ok Neemy, nobody's perfect ;)

Haha in all seriousness, I'm rooting for Auburn in the NCG. Even though they're the "enemy"...they have played like champions all year, and the competitor in me has a lot of respect for that. Even though I *hate* losing the Iron Bowl, the bottom line is that Auburn took our best shot, got kicked in the teeth, and got back up and did what champions do. So this is one 'Bama fan that will be giving a lot of big "WAR EAGLE!s" on Jan 10th.

Besides, like it or not, Alabama being great makes Auburn great, and vice-versa. If either program didn't have their most hated rival lurking a couple of hours away, ready to pounce on every slip-up, neither program would be where they are. Plus, hating Auburn is one of the things that make being a 'Bama fan so much fun...and I'd say it probably goes both ways there, too.

So *JUST THIS ONCE*.....War Eagle, I hope you have a smile on your face at the end of the day on 1/10! :)
