Ummm...I believe it was medical marijuna. If they had totally legalized marijuna that would be huge news. The main reason Jersey is banning the PV's is because it eats into their tax revenue. The problem is that everry year that they have raised their cigarette tax their revenue has gone down. So this last year they raised it once again and saw a threat from PV's and my only guess it that they decided to ban them to keep them from doing further damage to their tax revenue. BTW New Jersey's cigarette tax is now the highest in the nation at $2.70 a pack. That is just insane!

The reason they oked the sale of medical marijuane is because it is going to be taxed to hell and gone and the state is goingto make milions on it. Second, this is just the opening the door to total legalization of it and then the tax revenue will really start rolling in.

Marijuana should not be illegal anyways...alcohol is way more dangerous and addictive than marijuana by about a million times! LOL! :w00t:

They just signed it into law. So I am sure all this will get worked out in the very near future. In California and other states there are dispensaries. Though these are causing a problem for the states because they pop up all over the place and are hard to monitor. California for instance is going to be removing over 1,000+ dispensaries and cutting it back to a reasonable number across the state. I am sure New Jersey will have something similar and limit the number that are allowed.

Reading the NJ Bill, there is no provision to tax the sale of marijuana. It does mention a fee for the medical marijuana registration card required for each patient qualified to use marijuana as part of a medical regime.

In fact, the bill makes no mention of sales at all. The registered patient or their primary caregiver may possess up to 1 ounce of "usable marijuana" and 6 marijuana plants.

Taxing the sale of pot may come into play in the future in NJ, but it's not part of the game now.

are there certain counties or towns where maryj is legal in NJ or is it the whole state? What kind of doctor can perscribe it and where do you get the script filled?

There are boat loads of information concerning the California dispensaries and doctors who can approve you for a med card.

It's not too complicated in Cali so I'm sure, in the long run, it won't be hard to get one in NJ. Now, getting green leaf out there will probably not be as easy. Growers would need to have greenhouses and all that. Since there is cold weather in NJ there may be less grow houses. Or not.

I wonder if I should move back east again...but it is NJ,

Man, talk about hypocrites ... E-cigs are banned in NJ in non-smoking areas, but you can now buy marijuana. Really? The FDA really needs to get their head out of their @#$.

Two totally unrelated issues in every way. They're not saying you can smoke pot in bars or non-smoking areas. I'm sure you can't smoke it in public anywhere. They're not making e-cigs illegal, they're only banning them in non-smoking areas due to misinformation and misconceptions about the devices (largely perpetrated by ASH and the FDA). This shouldn't even be a comparison.

Why are you so sure? I have a friend in Oregon that does so all the time, once while having a casual conversation with a female cop. She just moved up-wind, said something about having to pass a urinalysis, and continued the conversation (about satellite television, of all things).

Non-smoking areas are of course another story.

Be careful what you wish for.In broward county fl they have "pain clinics" in a six month period of last year they handed out 6 million oxycotin in a county of roughly 1 million people. These pain clinics don't take insurance or credit so you tell me what they are doing. There are signs on the highway 70 miles away on rt #95 for one clinic, its really sad and pathetic.

Well fine, I'm not sure you can't use it in public places legally, though it would likely cause more hassle (from passersby, police, etc.) than just going somewhere private to do it. Actually, you probably could use it in public places now that I think about it, as it would be a prescribed medication. You'd always have to be explaining or pulling out your card. Would just be annoying. E-cigs are not prescribed medication. The rest of my statement still stands.
