I already have some kit built up, but I desire more flavor?

I started vaping last September maybe, and currently I own:

Mods:
Colonial Mech
Hana DNA30

Atomizers:
Mephisto v2
Kayfun Lite Plus v2

Batteries:
Efest Purple 2500mah

Things I'm buying next:
Sigelei 150w
Eleaf Lemo

Anyway, so after getting that out of the way, I feel like sometimes I desire more flavor from my vaping experience. The Kayfun was my first atty, and it was good enough to get me started, but it's realistically very limited in what it does. The Mephisto v2 is fun, and it's got a whole hell of a lot more potential than the Kayfun, but it suffers a little in the flavor department. The only juice I've tried that really burst with flavor through the Mephisto is maybe Bobas Bounty by Alien Visions, the rest are ok, don't taste bad, but mainly taste a bit watered down (aired down?).

So, my question is, what atty should I look at in order to get a little more flavor than the Mephisto, but without sacrificing too much performance? I already know I'll be getting the Eleaf Lemo because I constantly hear great things about it, being the current best tank and whatnot, but will it be great for flavor delivery? The Sigelei 150w I'm going to be getting also, is being able to run higher wattages than a mech mod going to give me better flavor? (I know ohms law) Is there another piece of kit that would give me what I'm looking for? Preferably under $50, I usually buy clones.

You can try a magma clone. The air for the coil comes from under the coil and it has a rounded inside of the top cap. Both of which improve flavor. It wont perform as well as your other atty, as it doesnt have the greatest airflow, 3mm x 2 is the biggest, I think. I love mine though... but generally, more airflow usually will equal less flavor. Try lowering the airflow on yours and you will notice the difference, if its not too hot. You can also try changing your wicking material.

Here are some good flavor attys that I own.

Ometra
Rogue
Venturi
Veritas
Lethal
Holmes
N22
Lancia
Magma

All tend to have smaller chambers with airflow very close to the coils. I find I get better flavor with more coil wraps for greater surface area - 10-14 wraps. I don't worry about going low ohms because I use regulated box mods like my SX Mini that can go to 60 watts with up to 2 ohm coils.

The Lethal is my favorite of all because it has top airflow and won't leak when I overdrip like my Lancia and Magma. The Lethal also has lots of insulation to keep cool when high wattage vaping.

And as always, flavor is subjective to each person. I can tell you even on the same device slightly modifying the build can make a huge difference. The last time I redid my Valkyrie mini, I didn't quite pinch the coils all the way together (like in what is usually considered a micro coil) and even with the same wire, number of wraps, and diameter, the flavor almost doubled. I do agree with what's been said about the smaller chambers, seems to help.

Also, I'm curious, you say the kayfun is limited, and while that's true to some degree, after many trials and errors, I can safely say that's my go to tank. Again, a simple change in that build can make a ton of difference. Good Luck to you!

Edit: I see above someone mentioned surface area. I suspect with me leaving a slight gap in the coils instead of the tight pinch, that's exactly what I did was increase the surface area. I know in some of the kayfun forums they've mentioned this as an alternative to the micro coil (again tightly pinched) and at least several people use a little looser spacing. I'll try it myself in my next build.

Reach...very interesting post. I'm Vaping a couple of micro coils and need to experiment. I have found that restricting airflow increases flavor, but the hard draw is the trade off. More surface area makes since. Time to experiment with some builds. Glad I grabbed 2 TOBH clones!

By the way, are you a ham? Do you vape on the tower?

A few things....

If you're vaping the same flavor day in, day out, after a while its just going to seem muted no matter what you vape it on or how because you've become desensitized to it, your just saturated with it and your senses need some time away from it. Having at least 3 or 4 all day vapes with very different flavor profiles to rotate through will help reduce that issue.

If when you say performance you're equating it to the size of clouds you can blow, and you're building for 'performance' when you want flavor, then you're taking the wrong approach. The kayfun should be giving you pretty good flavor.

That said, a good (and cheap) thing to try if you're really after flavor is a Kraken clone from fasttech. Personally I don't bother with cable or mesh in the very often and do a single coil cotton build, or on occasion a dual coil. I just didn't find the mesh all that much better, not enough to justify the hassle of building with it. The Kraken is my go to device for testing flavors with my cotton builds because its just so easy to clean and re-wick, its pretty easy to rebuild on as well. If get one and you go cotton just keep your coil diameter at 3/32" which allows your wick some room to swell and not get choked in the wick hole.

I get great flavor out of the Veritas as well, but have a hard time recommending it because of how annoying it is to build on. I've never hated building on another device more.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I ordered a Magma clone by Infinite because it was recommended, highly rated, and very cheap. I'm currently toking it now actually. I think I may have built the wrong build for it though. I'm currently using a single coil using 22gu using 12 wraps around a 5/64 core, summing to about .5 ohms. Think I'll try a smaller guage wire next time to get higher resistance and probably the same core size and windings. Sound good, or should this be fine how it is?

I have the nautilus aspire and eleaf lemo. The nautilus coils are really easy to rebuild and the flavor quality is way better after you rebuild them. However the lemo is amazing. I find sticking between .8 and 1.2 ohm works best for me. If I want a warm flavorful vape it is easily achieved with a 1 ohm micro coil. Just your basic build. It really produces great flavor and vapor. Hope this helps.

Yeah I may still get the lemo in the future, it sounds nice.

I'm wondering if I could get some advice from Magma users about the atty specifically. I've been experimenting with it all afternoon, but I can't settle on something that I like. I've been playing with wire guages, airflow amounts, mouth to lung/lung, coil close to/far from the air hole, etc. I seem to be coughing almost every hit, and don't get much throat hit from it at the same time. I rarely get throat hits in general from any of my atties, so maybe I just have a high tolerance for it, might be a different issue altogether. First build was 22gu 12 wraps 5/64 = .5 ohms. Second build was 28gu 12 wraps 5/64 = 1.8 ohms. Third build was 26gu 12 wraps 5/64 = 1.3 ohms. All of which using the Sigelei 150 with wattage set so that the voltage is about 4.2v in all instances just as a good reference point to a mech on a fresh battery. They've all been good, but not quite all there yet. I seem to have an issue with wicks breaking and separating within the coil as well, but this happens on all of my attys, though this one is no exception. Any advice is welcome while I try to get more acquainted with this atty.

Your wattage is going to be all over the place. No wonder you experience differences... You're basically going from 9.8'ish watt and up to 35 watt based on your ohms... That's a huge range, and a massive, massive difference in quality of vape.

Recommendation: Find the wattage you like, and stick to that through your builds. If wattage is the same, then the vape will be comparable across builds.

I'm using 28 gauge in my Tobeco Magma on a Paps clone, enough wraps to get 0.6 ohm in dual coil on a 5/64. This thing literally knocked my socks off. I don't even use the Plume Veil I ordered with it. I like it at 0.6 better than I like my Plume and TOBH clones at 0.2.

edit: Also, what Sweeper said. Stick with wattage mode on that box. I'm a mech user myself, but that 150w is very very tempting with the stainless threading and spring loaded pin...as someone who has had to fiddle and modify switches and 510 caps to get them working right, the convenience of the connector and high wattage may overpower my loathing of the aesthetic of a black box.
