I am doing something wrong....

I got some syringes and blunt tip needles for filling and I feel quite silly as I know it has something to do with physics ....LOL. I cannot get the juice to come up in the syringe without it drawing the plunger back down like a vacuum which does results in very little juice being pulled up into the syringe. I am thinking I need to take the tip off then draw up the liquid then put the syringe back on, seems like more work than needed though and thinking maybe there is a trick?

Yeah, I get that too, either hold it or allow it to go slightly, should then draw the juice up. It could be that you are using a small needle also. You can always remove the plunger and pour in from the top, although that can get messy.

If the juice is particularly thick and you are using a small bore needle, it can take a fair amount of strength or effort to draw it up. If you do not require such a fine needle, there are larger bore or larger gauge needles that are "blunt tipped" that would make your intentions much easier. Most e-liquid or e-cig vendors will sell these in their part accessories sections.

It isn't just you, it depends on the size of the needle and the thickness of the juice.
My needles are 18 ga and with some of my VG juices I have to hold the plunger and wait for the juice to fill the syringe.
The higher the PG the quicker it fills.

Sounds like you are doing it right, you must have thick high vg juice. If you just hold on to the plunger after you pull it up the vacuum will slowly draw the juice into the syringe. Or you can remove the needle, if your syringe tip will fit into your bottle, and draw the juice into it then put the needle back on to fill.

The smaller the cylinder of the syringe, the smaller the bore of the needle. At least that's what I've found. Most needles will fit from syringe to syringe. I've had to swap over my old needle to a new syringe to maintain good performance. They just twist off and press fit onto the new syringe.

Heating may help. I tend to use one flavor at a time so I keep the bottle in my pocket. That keeps it warm which makes it somewhat more fluid so it is easier to work with.

I use 50/50 juice for the most part. I was not patient enough to wait for it to draw up and to be honest did not know it would. Will give it another try tomorrow and may end up seeing about getting a larger tip.
