One week doing this and I am still doing something wrong. Keep in mind, to my knowledge, there is no one vaping within 60miles of my home, this forum is my only recourse for getting this right.

First thing I have learned is that I will never buy another Kanger product. Of the 6 coils I have only 3 work, and of them only one is the ohm I ordered. I ordered 1.8 ohm, received 1.8, 2.1, and 2.2, two of the others read as 1ohm and the last must be broken as it reads 9.9.

My current set up... Vamo V5 @ 4watts, EVOD w/ 2.2ohm coil, and 100% VG 4mg nic juice from Virgin Vapor. Watts or volts doesn't matter, I get the same results.

When I vape to mouth and inhale it hits my throat like a blowtorch. When I vape to lung it isn't as bad but it still hits like a truck. Only thing that seems to give a good vape is to vape to lung with my lips so lose I am also drawing air around the tip, this will not hit the throat but it will burn the end of my tongue like little splashes of acid. Am I flooding? Is this a dry hit? Is this normal and I just need to get used to it?

Moving on I think something has to be wrong with the EVOD so I twist up some Kanthal and make a 2.4ohm coil (tested and fired everything is great). I install it into a sanitized IGO-W and run a cotton wick that I boiled a few days ago and let dry. I reach into the bottom of my juice box and grab a 50/50 0mg nic juice. I don’t like the taste of it, but it is a test.... same result.

I am drawing as softly as possible, not hitting like it is a cigarette or a straw. I have read everything I can find regarding TH and still have this happening. There are to many people enjoying this for me to believe anything other than I am doing something wrong.

I keep pushing and pushing to get this right but at this point my throat cannot take much more.

as for the awful throat hit maybe try dropping the volts a little the coil maybe heating up to fast thats the only thing i can think of someone will come along though that may have a better answer

thanks, I have tried from lowest point possible. only moved up to get some vapor to hold in my mouth to atleast get the nic

There are some juices I just can't vape. 95% of them have menthol in them. I smoked menthol but I can't stand menthol in juices. It burns and drys my throat out. I find that the higher VG juices work best for me, and most of them are bakery flavored.

Do you find that 'menthol' in eliquids really seem more like 'mint' ?

I'm gonna point out the one thing that MIGHT be a simple issue - you mentioned 4 WATTS.
If you're trying to vape at 4 watts, you might just be sucking juice into your mouth - you won't be getting vapor at 4 watts...
If you meant 4 VOLTS, that's more like a typical setting...or try like 7 watts at least...

I hear of people vaping as high as 9-11 watts, I don't see how they can do this? On my Evic/Protank2 if I go above like 6.5 its too hot and above that it tastes burnt. I vape at like 5-6 watts with 50/50 juice

non-menthol

bigger air holes mean more airflow. more airflow means less throat hit and more vapor. i think i drilled my igo w out to 3/32

moved the coil to a Phoenix Atomizer V6 and set it to largest hole. much better, still has a bit of a TH but I guess it could be my throat is so angry to me. Need to make another coil, this one took some moving around to make fit without hitting sides but a good glow and 2.3ohm. would 2 coils be better or more TH?

I am following suggestions here and trying to stay in the middle until i get past the TH, then I will look for the sweet spot.

moved to 6watts, 6.5 and the TH returns.
