Hello everyone,

I have been smoke-free 16 days today! I feel so proud of myself and so much healthier! I believe vaping has been one of the single best life decisions I have ever made, but now I am having a problem...

First off, let me explain something that happened to me years ago. I use to be a caffeine junkie and would drink at least a 2 liter of Mountain Dew a day (often more), everyday of the week! I was also still big into the party scene, and after many late work nights out drinking, I would sometimes resort to popping speed in the mornings after to allow me to make it to work. After a few years of this dangerous cocktail, it began to finally take it's toll on my body. To make a long story short, I made myself become allergic to stimulants. Even the slightest sip of soda with a high caffeine content would give me uncontrollable shakes and would make my arms feel like they were on fire! I did away with caffeine then, and to this day some 8 years later, I still don't touch it.

Now, I continued to smoke all those years with no problems even though nicotine is a stimulant just like caffeine. It could be because the amount of nicotine you receive out of one cigarette is usually less than 1mg. Since I started vaping, it has been smooth sailing for me. No cravings for analogs at all really. But just two days ago, I have noticed the occurrence of what may become a BIG problem for me!

I think my body is starting to reject nicotine just like it did the caffeine. Over the last few days, I have really became quite the chemist - mixing different nicotine levels in my juice, trying different cartomizer's, etc. So far no matter what I have done, I am getting the symptoms regardless. Last night was the worst yet with a headache that felt like my head was going to split in half, and I don't get headaches period! My heart races, and my neck and shoulder's feel like they are about to catch on fire. I am currently vaping half the mg of what I have been using ever since I started vaping, and up till two days ago, I have been completely fine with it. It seems like no matter what dosage of nicotine I am vaping now, I am getting the same symptoms I had once before when I use to drink caffeine. I even seem to have a little rash on my right forearm (not positive it is from vaping).

I am scared now to say the least. I still don't have a strong enough grip on my smoking addiction to not go back to it, but at the same time I have to have my nicotine in order to keep the analogs at bay. I am not sure what I can do. I have even vaped 12mg, half of what I have been for the last two weeks, and it doesn't feel like enough to keep my cravings in check, but it is still causing me to have these symptoms. I am very fearful...

i've had a similar experience with both caffeine and nicotine....i don't consume any caffeine anymore, either.

as for nicotine, i started out at 18mgs, which was too much for me. then went to 12; everything seemed fine at first. however, a few weeks later, i started having weird, tingly sensations and splotchiness in my feet (dr. says it's a sign of poor circulation due to nicotine -- particularly disturbing to him because i'm barely middle-aged), as well as overactive bladder (yikes)...cut the nicotine down to 6mgs, things got a bit better, but not perfect...then i went to 4mgs -- all symptoms went away; but now i'm craving SWEETS. :(

Are you using PG in your juice? Some people have a reaction to it. You might try getting some 100% VG juice.

I have both, but my main vape is a 100% VG. I have used a lot of the PG as well, but over the last few days I have diluted all of my PG with Glycerin. I honestly don't think I am having a reaction to the PG (what little I use) because I have had these exact same symptoms in the past while I was on caffeine. As far as seeing a doctor goes, I did back years ago about the caffeine thing, but I am the type of person that has to have a kidney ripping through my skin in order to get me to go see one! Lol!

If you feel you are outside of these symptoms....please see your doctor.

(hug) Sorry you are feeling bad.

(I had horrible headaches, shakes, itchy .....make sure too, that you are staying hydrated.)

(starting at about the 2 week mark)

(and I now use 6 - 10 mg)

That was some really good reading, thank you! Amazingly and surprisingly, these symptoms just started up for me at the '2 week mark' since I had last smoked. I have no choice but to concede to the possibility that what I am feeling could very well just be some late side effects of not smoking. This is the longest I have ever gone without smoking, so it could very well be the issue. Thank you again! :)

I'm just gonna throw something out there. You said you were doing a lot of DYI. I found that I have to be very careful when mixing and working with the nicotine juice. At first I was sloppy. I would get drops on myself and sometimes even lick my fingers if I spilled some on me. Not a good idea. And every time I was mixing up a little batch I would get headaches and feel dizzy and the other signs that I was getting way too much nicotine.

Then I realized. If you get (estimated) 1mg of nicotine in a cigarette with a couple of drops of 48mg juice you could be absorbing 2 or more mgs per drop. Immediately. In my sloppyness I was probably getting as much nicotine as smoking several cigarettes at once. I just never had thought of that.

I am much more careful now and haven't had that problem for a long time. Just wanted to mention it. Be safe and I hope you can get to the bottom of it.

Now THAT makes sense! I have been mixing a lot in the last few days for the first time, precisely when these symptoms began to occur! I have been pretty careful for the most part, but I know without a doubt in my mind that I have been getting juice on my hands every time. I will wash my hands afterwards, but it may have been too late as I had already absorbed some extra mg through contact. I am almost willing to bet this is the case. Wow! You all are the best on this forum! You would figure a person with an estimated 148 IQ could at least put two and two together! I feel like a complete idiot hahahahahahaha! :p

I would definitely agree with the previous posters about seeing a doctor. Wish I could help ya though... unfortunately I am a caffeine junkie exactly like you used to be (minus the speed). I drink a 2-liter or more a day EVERYDAY, and it's Mountain Dew. I've tried to stop many times but I literally go through caffeine withdrawals, I get really lazy, sleepy, headaches etc. and it sucks. It worries me because people here say drink a lot of water while vaping and I substitute that with a lot of soda which probably isn't 'good for me. Maybe I'll have to quit soon too.

Best of luck to you, hope you find out what's going on and can continue to vape!

Surprisingly, giving up caffeine wasn't hard at all for me for some reason. I was addicted, I mean addicted to caffeine for MANY years, but when I gave it up, I gave up all soda as well for about 2 years. Then one day, I got really sick and all I could think about was 7up, so I bought a 2 liter and that made me start drinking soda again (I can only drink non-caffeine soda though). My girlfriend jokes with me constantly about me being the most hydrated person she know's because when I am home I almost always have either a can of Sprite, juice, milk, or water in my hand at all times...and my eGo in my other now! Lol!
