So I decided yesterday I have hade it with smoking, I have tried in past, but so tired of $$ I spend on it. And the damage of smoking the nasty tar and other chemicals in cigarettes, I seen my neighbor smoking e cigarettes, thought this I can do:) So I went to tobacco shop and bought Vapage Uturn 1300, and a bottle of the highest nicotine vanilla flavor, did real good last night. But this morning, well I had my morning coffee took a few puffs of my new pipe, wasn't enough so sitting here signing up, I lit a regular cigarette:( so mad at myself right now. But on other hand, I know from quitting in past, this is a journey! Mornings are worst for me, so hello, to my new friends when I get some. Lol...Question did I start off with good quality e cigarette? Ty's, I don't care about all the bells and whistles. Any feed back would be appreciated:) Oh yeah I been smoking since 17, so doing the math 30 years yikes!

The UTurn looks to be a take on a variable voltage eGo, which usually aren't too bad.

The thing to remember with vaping is the nicotine intake isn't as fast as a regular cigarette, so you may find that you need to use the e-cig more often at first.

What strength e-liquid did you purchase?

Hi Howie and welcome to the forum. Any starter kit is good, it is a step in getting off the stinky's. I too was a 30 yr smoker and started with a "starter kit". I have progressed since then thru many steps to improve the vape experience. Your tank looks like a CE 4, and the battery looks like a typical eGo style 1300 mah (mah is the battery life). If you were a heavy to medium smoker the odds are that you will soon want to upgrade both the battery and tank. Luckily ECF has a ton of vendors and experts to help in this journey. I put my cigs down for good when I hit my proper nicotine level and had a juice i liked. The first day wasn't the easiest, but it was so easy it shocked me, and kept getting easier as I went on.

My journey in the pic below. Far right are the iStick 50W ($50)with the Nautilus Mini ($25) tank (a no frills high quality vape tank). The middle has the Nautilus on a Spinner eGo ($20)type battery similar to what you are starting with. The tank on the far left is the CE 5 (disposable), similar to what you are starting with, and the second tank is a glass Aspire ET-S ($7) which now come with the BVC (bottom vertical coil), and the plastic blue one is the inexpensive Smok Micro Coil BDC ($5) which hits great but will crack with some juice flavors like citrus and cinnamon (glass is recommended by most vapers).

Good luck in your journey.

What finally worked for me after 36 years of smoking and dipping copenhagen was the following.

Using 24mg nic, use the ecig as often as I wanted, make a good effort to use it instead of smoking but initially to have the important smokes. So that is what I did and about a week later I woke up to smoke the most important one and could not finish it because it tasted bad. Went back inside for some cinnamon roll eliquid :)

I think the rule of thumb is you take the coil resistance (ex: 1.8) and add 2 volts = 3.8. There is a safety issue but more important is you don't want a burnt coil or taste. If you get to that then you need to turn the battery down. When you get to the point to upgrade any of your equipment you should consider looking here :

FORUM SUPPLIERS - ECF Forum Suppliers | E-Cigarette Forum
COUPONS - Stores - ECF E-Cigarette Coupons

DEALS and STEALS - Deals and Steals | E-Cigarette Forum (go to last page)

My opinion is the better the equipment the better your chances are of getting off the cigs. You don't need the best, but when I upgraded it was like an insurance policy to me that I was going to stay off the cigs. Another good rule is backups. When you do upgrade, or have the battery on charging and can't vape you don't want to reach for the cigs, so having another battery is a good idea. Your beginner kit will serve that purpose well.

Another thing to consider is the health issues with quitting:

Health, Safety and Vaping | E-Cigarette Forum

A list of symptoms when quitting tobacco and changing to an ecigarette | E-Cigarette Forum

Good luck, you've already taken that important first step and you'll reach the goal. Don't be shy about asking questions, the experts here have helped me a lot.

Just keep vaping more and more you'll want the cigs less and less. Don't kill yourself over a cigarette. For some they can quit as soon as you start vaping others use both for a time then gradually wean off. I recommend nautilus mini and istick 30 or 50. The new kanger subox is coming out the end of the month that has a lot of people excited ($58 for tank/battery)

I agree with Sarasota red, it took me 12 days of dual use to get off the stinkys. My first thought on vape was "wow this can work", then 12 days later I was in shock when I was comfortable enough with my vape that I no longer wanted a cig. 3 days after I quit the cigs I did have to go thru the house and clean and wash everything. My smell returned that quick and kept improving. Everything gets better, smell, taste, breathing, sleeping, energy. Just relax, grab the vape as often as you need it and you'll get there.

As others have said, don't worry about having one. It took me 3 weeks to fully get off cigarettes when I switched to vaping. Mornings were the hardest for me as well. Its probably already been said but at the very least get yourself a back up battery. It makes it harder to quit if you are having to wait on a battery to charge.

Congrats on your first step my friend. Don't be shy about asking questions. The posters here are good people. They will take care of you. I was a 3 pack a day smoker before I quit, and now I'm down to zero nic. It's possible. And 1 Cigarette isn't the end of the world. I started vaping and was still taking my habitual smokes, two in the morning, two after lunch, two with dinner, and two before bed, but all the others in between I replaced with my Vape pen. Before I knew it, my favorite cigarettes tastes like crap and I was vaping even more. Trust me. Nobody said it will be easy, and if they did, they lied. It's easier to not try. I'm not saying it will be easy, I'm saying it will be worth it.

Congratulations for taking that all important step... Putting the cigarette down I think E-cigarettes are a great way to replace the harmful chemicals that are in cigarettes. I wish you much success. If you are ever in calabash, NC stop in at Darth Vapor Cloud Lounge. (coming very soon).

My first few days quitting I smoked a few cigs everyday still. After a few days of forcing myself to use the vape and adjusting to the vape it got easier to just stop smoking the cigarettes. It still isn't easy though you are up against the same beast you have tried to quit a million times in the past (I assume). For a few weeks I had those days where I was puffing the vape like it was a crack pipe but after a month or so you dont even remember what it's like to smoke and you feel the shackles release.

Welcome Howie--don't worry about a few smokes when just starting out--I was a dual user for 3 months before I finally quit the stinkys altogether.
I went thru pretty much the same progression of e-cigs as Sir2 posted a pic of above.
I tried a bunch of different flavors but never could find one I really liked all the time so for the last 2 months I have been vapeing unflavored 80 VG/20PG 24mg Nic and that works just fine.
Just keep playin with the vape and you will find it quite easy to cut down and then quit smoking cigs.

Welcome to the forums Howie!!!

It's ok if you have a cigarette every now and then when you first start out. Ecigarettes are not a 1:1 replacement for regular cigarettes. There are more chemicals in a regular cigarette than just Nicotine. The fact is, you're addicted to more than just the nicotine from a regular cigarette. I could go into details, but in general, regular cigarettes are a mixture of chemicals that enhance the addictive properties of nicotine. When you switch to an ecig, yes, you're getting nicotine... but even if you're getting the same ammount, you're not getting the other chemicals that enhance the nicotine's effect. So, you will still crave cigarettes for the OTHER chemicals they have in it.

The good news is, vaping will help "tide you over" between cigarettes. When I first started, I went from a pack a day to 3 per day. That lasted for a month.. then I went from 3 to 2.. .then 2 to one.. then one to.. ever so often. Last cigarette I took, I challenged myself.. how long can I go without one.... 2 years later, I'm still counting.

So, don't get discouraged. Use vaping as an "inbetween cigarettes" type of solution. Just challenge yourself to see how far you can go. Reach for an Ecig first when you get the urge.. and if that doesn't do it for you, then go ahead and smoke. After that cigarette, the challenge is on again.

Most of us have been in your shoes. You're not alone in the frustrations. Good luck, and by all means, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Perhaps we can save you some money in the long run by giving advice.
